Excellent work, nice to see another one saved👍 I have done the same this year now at the start of a 12 - 24 month restoration project 😊

Hi there, I have just watched your video, it was soo so sad, i was almost in tears. Caravelle, is what we call a proper broads cruiser, and there aren't many left now unfortunately. She is a wonderful boat, and holds lots of happy times and memories for my family and i. We bought Caravelle almost 17 years ago, she was being used as a tow boat at Acle Bridge. she was shabby and needed a lot of work doing, and like you, we restored her, she was lovely by the time we had finished, a labour of love.

The childrens childhood holidays were Caravelle, she was part of the family. Unfortunately, due to personal circumstances, we could no longer afford to keep her on, so we sold her 7 years later, she still looked bloody good though, from there onwards she started going downhill, such a shame.Reading your comments about restoring her is very heartwarming, and congratulations on already restoring the engine.

Been there, done that! T494 a Richardsons 'Broadsventure 42'. Now long gone! Now there's the engine, toilet n' freshwater tanks to clean n' flush, and the mud filled bilges. Long uphill struggle after the hull is fixed.

I’m told this happened to a boat I used to own at Horning several years ago. I spent a whole summer doing loads of work but found the Broads too expensive. I’m told the boat passed through several hands before ending up sinking on the mooring and was eventually towed away. Does anyone know what happened to R119 Waveney Grebe formerly known as Sam?

Not a mention of the Bauchamp Arms then?

thanks chrissy , i spoke to the boatyard in loddon yesterday and i'll be lifting caravelle out the water in a couple of weeks, he knows the boat well and said that she creaked abit last time she came out (3 years ago) so am glad i waited until she has dried out fully above the waterline . then it'll be work work work .. follow what happens on the norfolkbroads forums . gary

Ooooh those beautiful old wood classes broads cruisers. Many happy holiday on them but somehow so sad video

It's good to see someone willing to save an older style "proper boat" there are less and less of these being saved. Look at the 1930's speedboats that where scrapped (not on the broads) but if you can find one people flock around to admire them. This old girl is somewhat younger but has already given so much happiness to many such as Chrissy & her family. I had planned to get a boat for a few years after retirement from the Armed Forces but Iraq put pot to that wheelchairs & boats don't mix!

stuart turner have a good reputation worldwide not sure if they needed to advertise as blatently as they did in this video but nice rescue all the same :}
@ncsl8 жыл бұрын
They didn't advertise any thing. It was done by the team of volunteers that raised the boat as a way of thanking the company for the supply of their equipment.

Someone on the Broads forum say its still reg ? @@ncsl
@ncsl Жыл бұрын
@scot4u yes I read that but it just means that the owner has not removed it from their database. A lot like that that no longer have a toll paid. I get rud if my canoe about 7 years ago yet they still sent me a toll reminder. . You could write to the BA and ask then to pass on a note to the registered owners address and ask them to let you know what has happened to it. Only way really to find out, I guess.

That looks like the boat I hired in 1997 and every morning I had to hit the starter motor to get it to start and when I pumped it out it was a danger to the environment, hired it for two weeks but handed it back after the first and had an argument about getting our second weeks money back which we did.
