they hold gaming broadcasts (EXO has as well with the same translator and they are always messing with her too lol) for korean and chinese fans which is why they have a translator.

Chinese isn't a language because there are multiple languages and dialects that are spoken in China. The most common are Cantonese and Mandarin, but there are hundreds of dialects that are completely different to each other that use different words you can't just categorize it and say that they're all speaking one language. For example in WayV, all the members speak Mandarin while only Xiaojun and Hendery speak Cantonese so if they spoke Cantonese the other members wouldn't understand them as the words used in Cantonese and Mandarin are very different. Like WinWin who's from Wenzhou also has speaks a different dialect that the other members don't know and had to learn Mandarin. All of them actually have accents when they speak Mandarin because YangYang speaks the Taiwanese version of standard Mandarin, in NCT I think Chenle and Kun (especially Chenle) speak the most standard/"neutral" Mandarin. This is probably a lot more info than you wanted lol but I kind of wanted to explain why people can't just speak Chinese and its because there's not a single language across China that every single person can fully communicate and understand each other with. Like most of the population speak Mandarin, but not enough to say that's the language every single Chinese person speaks like you could say with English in the U.S.

One of the reasons I love watching the Dreamies interact with the Huya translator (And EXO as well) is because if they tease the heck out of you it means they really like you. That playful annoyingness is practically their love language (and is exactly how they treat each other) and the staff laugh at them so often, it's completely charming x
