sadly, some members are mistreated. for example, winwin (my ult bias) rarely gets any lines or screentime. the most amount of lines he got was about 7 seconds long (while promoting with wayv). in simon says music video (an nct 127 mv), he wasn't even included in the video. they only showed his face about 3 times in the mv. while he was promoting with nct 127 he got treated horribly as far as lines and screen distribution. now that's hes promoting with wayv more, he gets treated a bit better, but still not 100% full proper treatment. winwin also had an opportunity to perform and sing on stage but the entertainment label said no and made up an excuse, saying that he was sick. many fans were dissapointed but they still held up a sign with his name on it. but, the staff members came and took down the banner. winwin has also said that he wants to try out acting (he was in the #1 acting/arts school) but again, the entertainment wont let him. yangyang is also another member who doesn't get much lines and screentime. taeyong the leader and mark, both recives most of lines which can be pretty tiring for them. sm ent overworks both of them. renjun was once talking about winwin on vlive and the staff member told him to litteraly "shut up" and stop talking about him. considering renjun was also a minor at that time is even more upsetting :// more members also get mistreated/mismanaged sadly. edit: pls dont get offended that i mixed up mistreatment with mismanagment. bc honestly i get confused between the 2. so i would consider this as mismanagement not mistreatment. and don't call me biased please. i know some people may not see it as a bad thing, but i just don't like being called biased :) and i just found out that winwin got more than 7 seconds in king of hearts. excuse me for that, i didn't know. but don't come for me at it or get offended cause i messed up.

I agree poor winwin is always being mistreated. He's extremely talented too so it's so sad that he's treated like this and having his talent be wasted. A lot of nct members and mistreated like Renjun, Chenle, and Yuta and even more smh.

@@pj3392 I agree. A lot of people confuse the words “mistreatment” and “mismanagement” when they are not the same thing at all. Things like companies starving the idols, overworking them, and physically/mentally damaging them are some examples of “mistreatment”. A form of “Mismanagement” is when a company does not properly support and promote their idol and doesn’t let them shine- like winwin’s situation.

QOTD: I recommend Bibimbap or kimbap Sucks but NCT foreign memebers mostly the chinese ones don't get treated well. Actually foreign members from a lot of groups seem to always leave cause of mistreatment or unfair treatment and i hate it cause they are the memebers that work extra hard since they have to study korean and still keep up with their schedule. NCT is complicated. The biggest problem is sasaengs which are like very obsessive fans that follow the members to the point where they find their phone numbers, where they live, their airplane schedules so that they could take private photos, where they’re doing private activities etc. and NCT probably have the worst to the point where they have to publicly BEG people to just leave them alone and to stop invading their privacy when it got the point that they got complaints from their neighbors because these sasaengs are camping out at where they live which is disturbing other residents. Their company doesn’t tighten their security or do anything even though they always get calls from these sasaengs whenever they’re lives and it has gotten to the point that some members are afraid of answering phone calls at all. SM (their company) doesn’t care even though it’s very worrying and the actual fans have begged the company to take action. Another big problem is that some of the members get way too overworked to the point you wonder how they’re still functioning and some members don’t get anything at all. SM entertainment is honestly just super messy and have a history of severely mistreating their foreign artists and even though we haven’t heard much about it for NCT it’s still very worrying what could be happening that people don’t know about. Also honestly the way that the staff talks to some of the members is concerning especially since some of the members younger members literally grew up training in this company.

SM Entertainment doesn't exactly have the cleanest record when it comes to treatment of their artists, especially the foreign ones. They’ve been sued many times in the past for poor treatment and overworking. I will say, it has gotten considerably better but it’s still a work in progress and far from perfect. It’s kind of hard sometimes to compare like, WayV’s promotion/management vs the rest of NCT. On the surface, it looks completely different because they’re aimed at a completely different market. The things they’ve done, the shows they go on etc, are different than what a typical Kpop group does for promotions. And unfortunately, content from China isn’t always easily accessible to international Kpop fans since a lot of the big media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, KZbin, etc are blocked in Mainland China, so a lot of Chinese shows and programs don’t push their content heavily internationally, so naturally on the surface, it looks like WayV doesn’t get anything. I think comparatively to their past promotions with groups like Super Junior-M and EXO-M, WayV’s handling is better. Like, due to the pandemic, they couldn’t promote their first full album in China, so instead of shelving that for later, SM Entertainment actually released the album, pushed more international and Korean promotions for it. As a result, WayV actually grew a larger international fanbase from that album. Their followers on social media significantly increased more than ever, even on Weibo (their Chinese account). They got a full album before NCT Dream did, even though NCT Dream has been around since 2016. They also got an MV for “Bad Alive” a B-side on their album and SM sent them to promote that too on Music Shows, something they don't typically do for non-title tracks. And on top of that, because they couldn’t film their reality show “WayV’s Dream Plan” in China, they did a reality show in Korea called “WayVision” and also filmed a season 2 for that airing now while the other NCT subunits had 1 NCT Life show each last year. Overall, I think SM pushing WayV’s international/Korean promotions have done better at getting them recognized. Again, SM Entertainment is far from being great at promoting their foreign artists, but they’re not completely neglected. I typically don’t like defending companies because they’re all just money hungry machines at the end of the day, but I figured I’d point out some of the positives they done since I’m sure the comment section is filled with people jumping on the negatives. One thing to keep in mind, SM Entertainment was the first company ever to debut in a Non-Korean Kpop idol, they’re the ones who took that risk and now that’s almost a common place in the industry to have a few foreign members in a Kpop group.

The foreign members gets treated the same as other when it comes to like living situations. But they get mismanaged when it comes to promotions like line distributions, screentime distributions or other extra promotions. But they’re all given good living conditions and good staffs so no need to worry about those. They’re not being abused. But the problem is that they aren’t being given the same opportunities in work.

Not only do they get mistreated/mismanaged by the company, they also get mistreated by saesangs, which are like crazy, obsessive, dangerous fans who stalk them and invade their personal space with cameras and physical force. There was a time recently where the WayV members were casually minding their own business outside and here come fans taking pictures of them. Smh

Honestly, the company SM has a history of mistreating their non korean artists, is a constant fight of any fandom of a SM group. It's no different in NCT, WayV, tgeir chinese unit is always sabotaged by their company. BUT between the 23 members, even though sometime there might be lenguage bareers, they support and help each other so much even learning each other lenguages and cultures, it's heart warming. Their group dinamics is so interesting and cute.

Tip in Kpop foreign members often get mistreated Even korean members get mistreated. A lot of companies have favoritism example YG Jennie JYP Bae Suzy Artist go through a lot of anxiety and stress as trainees and artist in general. Fans and Stand can be demanding and hurt the artist by calling them fat; throwing stuff, stalking and harassing the members and their family. Fact: Fans got mad when Jungkook got tattoos People boycotted to get him life's out of bts Parents called him a bad boy and bad influence Fans astana netizens harassed and trashed the tattoo shop and tattoo artist She got fired and had death threats sent to her (Tattoo shows and artist is illegal in Korea)

Biggest company comes with the most pressure and at one point when NCT just started they were considered to be failures because of the whole groups concept. Definitely their senior members in the company had it tougher as they paved the way for their juniors but NCT also went through it maybe more lenient now that they've grown but its tough being in a company that is highly recognized and they definitely weren't pardoned to most of the things. SM & JYP both have a history of physically abusing their artists. especially if they are a foreign member. there are so many stories, two idols were in the hospital but SM said they still had to perform so a manager pushed all their IV fluids in at once & then took them from the hospital. at JYP an underage chinese trainee was being hit by management so much he literally ran away & got on a plane to china & never came back. SM has had at least 5 artists run away & flee the country as well, some multiple times, & most of them took legal action over the abuse. none of these idols were in nct or got7 tho so hopefully none of them ever had to go thru that.

To continue with the mistreatment NCT members go through, Taeyong, the leader of the group, has been overworked by the company since 2018, the longest rest he had gotten was 1 week, and he only got that because his injury was so severe (a herniated disc) he physically couldn't work anymore. He was unable to move his body for 3 days and as soon as he could SM had him back up and dancing again. SM also has him do dangerous stunts that worsen his condition, jumping over bodies and landing on his knees, dancing on his ankles, having other members use his body as a platform to jump off of--- we've seen him have to be carried by staff off stage, him constantly in neck braces and using pain relief patches, having to be suspended in a harness for hours, and still expected to create new concepts for the group and take part in song and choreography making. Each time we think he's finally gotten a break, he's still been working, and as the leader of the group he seems to think overworking himself is his job.

All of NCT have to deal with the mistreatment of the company when it comes to stalker fans, WayV have it especially hard though. WayV members have had their personal information sold to stalkers from their own staff. It's gotten to the point where stalkers have been caught taking photos of them in the bathroom. Scandals of members have even been debunked because stalker fans have commented things like "I've been outside his house for the past month and he hasn't left to go to that place" SM also lets any kind of harassment their idols go through just... happen. Like Lucas still gets a flurry of colorist and racist comments/slurs, TY was slandered for YEARS with false allegations, they've erased the work of Winwin, Ten, and Lucas in NCT. They've also failed to promote most of their artists fairly, and it's especially apparent with their Chinese artists. SM has had several human rights violation complaints against them. No artist under their company is well treated imo.

well, winwin doesn't get lines and screentime but he has started getting more since wayv debuted. taeyong had a back injury, sm told the fans he was resting when that wasn't the case (he was filming smth) so after that he was overworked to the point that his injury relapsed in december and he couldn't even perform in an online concert. the company never released an official statement and we got updates about him from members only. taeyong, mark, ten and lucas had their own subunit schedules, then superm and then nct 2020 back to back w no breaks. they mistreat lucas ALOT. don't give ten good parts when he's improved his vocals so much. yuta having heavenly vocals is rarely given any lines. they don't acknowledge him and jaehyun as main vocalists. johnny trained for nearly ten years and to this day he gets v less lines so yeah f*ck sm entertainment lol

There is mistreatment of some members (all companies have that on some level though - popular/money making members get better treatment) though not always blatant. It is getting better though in certain areas, while others still need work. There are instances where members weren't mistreated but fans made it out to be... Sometimes fandoms mistreat certain members as well... So it's happening, but on differenct levels/different types of mistreatment but many improvements have been made - we have to keep pushing for more, though there will always be bias within companies and fandoms...

Unfortunately, there is a lot of xenophobia in korea so the foreign members sometimes get mistreated. And there's also a lot major political issues between China, Japan, and Korea so it affects how the members from Japan and China are promoted.

Honestly I wouldn't say that members are being mistreated....but rather some mismangement....things have become a little better, but there are still a lot to improve for the groups....and yes please do the cooking thing...I would say Bulgogi or Bibimbap. Thank you!

Unfortunately SM have a history w mistreating and mismanaging their idols, especially foreign idols being given barely any screentime or lines and wayv, the chinese subunit of NCT not be fairly promoted compared to the korea based units, and mainly mistreating throughout their trainee period but also heavily overworking their idols to the point of injury (taeyong, NCT's leader had to last minute pull out of an online concert at the end of last year due to a herniated disc in his back as a result of being overworked throughout the entire year. It's not great but it's fair to say they're starting to at least get moderately better.

But i think SM has gotten better at treating their idols compared to the past. Like I was honestly surprised that WayV was the first unit to get IGs and they allowed them to have pets.

WinWin is a classic example of being mistreated. He doesn't get many lines within NCT127 or WayV. Also because of Korean Law, foreign artists get paid less than domestic artists which is dumb. But normally foreign artists can be neglected in groups. That's why some end up going back to their country to work in the entertainment circle there. Classic example: Tao, Luhan and Kris Wu were foreign artists that were poorly treated in EXO and left to work in China and are highly successful there now. Lay from Exo is still part of EXO but mostly does solo work in China. But Korean idols can be mistreated with neglect, overwork, exhaustion,etc; not all but many are.
