If anyone can explain anything I didn't understand in this video I'd appreciate it a lot haha! Thanks for watching regardless, leave a thumbs up if you enjoyed :) (This video was not made with the intention of making fun of any NCT members! Their talents are incredible as well as their ability to speak multiple languages, it's genuinely so impressive! Just a bit of fun! Laughing with them, not at them!)

3:40 That’s Donghyuk (Stage name, Haechan) The one with the brownish hair. If you meant the one with the purple hair, that’s Chenle (pronounced like Chun-luh) The game they’re playing is one where you say a phrase and have to accentuate the next syllable every time you repeat it going from the first to last syllable. Like let’s say the phrase was “I like puppy dogs” you’d go “ *I* like puppy dogs” then “I LIKE puppy dogs” then “I like PUPpy dogs” and then “I like pupPY dogs” then “I like puppy DOGS” The challenge comes from having to do it really fast. The Chinese members in NCT Dream sing in Korean, the Chinese subunit WayV sings in Chinese.

LazyJamie You’re welcome, NCT is a very big group so it can get pretty confusing sometimes. I can’t help you with anything about different languages, but if you need clarification on some things right now feel free to ask me. I’m not an NCT expert or an expert on Korea, but I’ll try and tell you what I know.

That game that they keep on playing is a game where you have to emphasize every syllable in a word. For example : nakamoto yuta (this is the word) it would sorta bw like. NAkamoto yuta , naKAmoto yuta, nakaMOto yuta, nakamoTO yuta, nakamoto YUta, nakamoto yuTA....the capitalized letters are the syllables that you have to emphasize while saying the word.

The "ㅋㅋ" character is the korean version of "Hahahaha" Also the joke/pun on that scene is basically Q:"Where is the place that produces a lot of bananas" A:"Amazon" (That's because they're referring to the Amazon rainforest but also "Ama" in korean means "probably" and "Zon" is pronounced as "John" in korean so the joke can also mean "Probably John")

the game is for every syllable in a word/phrase you have to emphasize it, so for, "nakamoto yuta", it'd be: "NAkamoto yuta, naKAmoto yuta, nakaMOto yuta, nakamoTO yuta...", and etc. "ㅋㅋ"/"keke"/"kk" is just like our "haha" or whatever lol also, when something most likely seems like it "rhymes" in korean with english, it's because it's konglish which is like the equivalent to spanglish (i.e korean-english/spanish-english words). p much every language has a variation of words with english mixed in. some examples are 오렌지 (orenji/orange), 피자 (pija/pizza), etc.

Glass!!! I hope you still watch the part 2, 3 and 4 of the nct foreign members vs the korean language, most of them are easier to understand than this first one. some words sound the same in korean but have different meanings, that's why some of the foreign members end up understanding it differently which makes it really funny hahaha, like the part where mark asks chenle, "do u want to drink tea" but to renjun it sounded like "do u want to be in the team?" and the part where mark (canadian) asks what "friendship" is since it was spoken in korean but yuta (japanese) heard it differently and explained it as "be quiet" since friendship and be quiet in korean language sounded similar.

the foreign members begin learning korean before debut and then proceed to learn more and more as their careers go by. so they often make mistakes, don't understand/know certain words or expressions that aren't often used, etc. some know a lot more than others (this is normal bc not everyone learns at the same pace) some have thick accents when they speak korean, and you can only hear this if you've been exposed to a lot of korean beforehand. but generally speaking, they're doing pretty good.

8:13 it is the letter ㅋ in korean which is used to symbolize laugh, pretty much as if it had been written ‘hahaha’ in english :) also, the word games they played a lot is a korean pronunciation game where you have to accent one syllable per time. for example at 6:15 kun is doing it with ‘부릉부릉’ (meaning vroom vroom). in this case he’ll have to say it 4 times since there are 4 syllables in the word. the first time he has to accent the first ‘부’ more, the second time the first ‘릉’ more and so on. you have to make sure to accent the right syllable each time but also always pronounce them right. i hope it helped someone understand :)

More than half of their members are foreign, which I find amazing, and the fact that they struggled to communicate to start off with, and still made it work, bless them. If you are wanting to get to know them a bit more, the 'subpar guides' to nct dream, 127 and wayv by the channel 'softjun' are pretty good at providing helpful details

Baako Jernigan well technically the “Chinese” is broken down to two: Mandarin (the language people generally call Chinese) and Cantonese, which is a completely different dialect spoken in a lot of southeastern China, Hong Kong, and Macau. It’s Lucas’s first language, XiaoJun and Hendery also speak it, the 3 of them often talk to each other in Cantonese.

6:54 *during training,* (I’m not sure if you know this but just in case, training is required before debuting, they can kick you out if you’re not good enough) *international trainees are taught Korean and sometimes Japanese depending on the company. So he is Chinese, speaks it, but was taught Korean since it’s Korean-Pop so he sings in Korean but there are times where they weren’t taught certain sentences and such so that why he says he isn’t good, they just give him lyrics to read but they’re all somehow fluent in Korean :) I’m also new to watching your videos, keep the good work up!

So for chenle, the Korean. I’m not sure about this, if I’m wrong my apologies this is my explanation. And I do speak Korean just not first language :) Chenle does understand some korean, the Korean in the songs sometimes they have to pronounce it so they try hard and all that. He might understand most of it but sometimes the pronunciation is from them. (If you don’t understand sorry- I just kinda can’t make it understandable since I’m not that good in English) (Thai/Mexican/Chinese problems 😅) Now for this (ㅋㅋㅋ) it’s a way for Koreans to show that they are laughing! They can also use this (ㅎㅎㅎ). It also is like saying: hehe or laughing as well. (Also I know Johnny, Ten and Mark aren’t Korean, if some of ya’ll say that they aren’t. I know the members :)

All members in K-pop group sings in korean (since it’s korean pop music). Basically foreign members, as trainees, take Korean classes as part of their training. Usually the ones who’ve been training for years are generally fluent by the time they debut. But everyone learns and picks up languages at different paces so some can be completely fluent within a year, some continue to struggle even after debut. A lot of the clips shown in this video were from their early days so it seems like they’re struggling more than they actually do. Also just a side note, the guy who was introducing their album (when you asked what language they sing in), Chenle, he only trained for 2 months before debuting so he really had to pick korean up quickly. The game they’re playing is, they have a phrase and each time they repeat it, they have to emphasize the next word, and it gets a bit tongue twistery, I think they play it a lot because it’s hilarious, it’s a way to past time in a car, and it helps the foreigners with pronunciation.

But it was not his turn so i believe that's how he cheated

It's not that hard to sing lyrics in a foreign language. I was in choir for 8 years and I've sung in various languages. It's basically just memorization through repetition. You don't have to understand what the words mean to be able to sing it. For some English parts in NCT songs, you might get a variety of pronunciations, good or not so good. For instance, in NCT Dream's new song Puzzle Piece, there is a part in which Haechan literally sounds like he's saying "puzzle piss" LOL! Some members work hard to sound fluent for their English parts, but others really don't. But hey, as long as it kinda sounds like English, it's all good. They all work hard on their pronunciations overall and I think it really shows :)
