You poor nctzens. You have a whole group that you stan with 21 members but you all probably get exited when one interacts with one from another subunit because there is so many of them. Like if Jisung said "Hi" to YangYang you'd probably feel all hyped up because they talked to each other even though they're in the same group. its sad yes, but i think even before they signed a contract and debut they were already brief by what's coming in the future like what's happening now... they may even be brief by the comp that the concept might not be easily accepted and will have a hard time rising to stardom and that everything they're doing is all business/career related they can be friends if they want to but its not necessary and it makes me proud because at such a young age they understood and are very well aware of their positions and on where/who they are now... if you look at its very difficult to not be close with everyone esp that ur under the same brand/label/group but they are able to overcome it and it makes me sad and proud all at the same time

True, and you could see how carefully he worded his answer so people don't misunderstand him, haha! But I think it is just natural to see less super close friendships when you have more than 20 people in different units - in my mind it's like with a school class of 20 people, you can still know everybody and like everybody, but you will most likely have your small circle of close friends. Logistically as well, it's way harder to organize 21 people as a whole, ergo less possibilities for members of different units to really get to know each other, as Jeno said. How are they supposed to be close friends when they don't live together, don't practice together and don't spend much time with each other? I really think it has less to do with the number of members, but with the existance of different units that all promote individually and have different schedules. So I don't think we should be sad about it since we can't really change anything, but rather cherish the interactions we get and stay hopeful for a NCT2019 project :) Sorry for the long comment, I have just been thinking about this a lot the past months!

SM might one day build them up to be a brand that they can manage separately from their other projects, but they haven’t reached that stage yet.
