I always see a lot of comments from kpop vocal stans about who supports this note vs who supports that note but are any of them actual singers who’ve taken any type of vocal lesson ever? Most of them just parrot baseless and subjective claims unawares. Renjun is a great singer

I guess some of us love singing so much we just want to further know and learn more about vocals. It’s more of like “why does this singer sound different than the other?”, “why does this singer struggle at this note compared to someone else?”. It starts from there and our interest just branched on I guess. A rabbit hole I dug myself on 😕 I’m not that good in singing but learning about vocal pedagogy has helped me understand what proper healthy singing should sound like and I can hear an immense difference if I’m actually supporting or straining my ass off haha. But thats my take. Others might give you a different reason but for me, I guess I love singing so much, it lead me to learning more about it. Also its just so “satisfying” to actually hear a singer know what to do with their voice, technical-wise or stylistic. But thats just me.

His notes could be a bit more supported. His G#4 note in Boom sounded good but the reverb makes it hard to tell.

Daddy pig lover I not really an expert and dont really follow Renjun that much but judging from this vid its B2- E4. He does have some nice moments with notes up till G4. I need to watch more of his live singing though. I like this kid, he has potential. Out of all NCT and WayV vocalists, him, Xiaojun and Jungwoo are my fave haha. He just needs to learn to support better because his voice thins out around F4. This is my take so feel free to debunk my claims haha.

He's a very light high tenor aka tenorino. Very thin and bright/boyish voice with overall high tessitura. I listen to his duet with xiaojun and renjun's tessitura seems to sit 2 or even 3 semitones higher than xiaojun who's already a high tenor. Would you say a tenorino is part of tenor? They viewed as tenor in history of opera but also viewed as seperate from tenor in some literature.

They're all falsetto, not head voice.

my bad, i should have titled it as head voice/ falsetto but i was lazy. please enlighten me if i'm wrong, but i think up until about a4/bb4 they are head voice as the notes are easily transitioned/connected to chest voice, e.g. the g4 in 'don't need your love', he starts off with chest voice in the word 'love' but it slides up into head voice. if it was falsetto, it's not possible to have a smooth transition as it is disconnected. but i agree that from c5 they are definitely falsetto. sorry for the mistake.

@@ddrrrmmssss I think I don't agree that his F4-Bb4 range is head voice. 1/ About the transition, I know that falsetto is a disconnected register and it's kinda difficult to have a smooth transition between chest voice and falsetto, but singers that usually use falsetto as a part of their singing will develop the ability of having the smooth transition, together with the breathy singing, they can do that. Actually, having the ability to switch between mixed voice and falsetto needs hard works too because falsetto is a disconnected register. 2/ I focus on the sound, I think they are falsetto because they are disconnected, thin, nasal, airy, weak and they have no support. But Renjun has nice timbre, we can hope his technique will get better in the future. ( from what he has shown, he doesn't have support :( ) But it's interesting to know that the original highnote of Boom was a C5.
