Great video. Thank you. There is hardly any content on this and this is such an amazing lens. The end all be all super wide lens in my opinion.

Thanks for sharing this. As a video shooter, this is what has held me back from buying this lens. I've been wondering about this rear ND mechanism since they announced this lens and you're the first person I've seen have the proper ND filters. I was wondering if I would have to cut my own out of ND film or a company would finally release these. Happy I subscribed to your channel a few weeks back man.

Ray Valencia Thanks Ray! I appreciate your sub! I like to do videos that help people out, even if it’s not something that will get a ton of views. Hoping to start carving out my own section of KZbin this year with more content!

Hi there what's the max stops for this ND filter? Would it suffice waterfall long exposure?

On location removing the lens, even for a few seconds and quickly covering the camera sensor will give time for dirt to enter. I'm a landscape photographer and recently bought the 14-24 and would never use this type of filter. I decided to go for the Nisi S5 system. I know that option is not useable for video shooting but even a small piece of dirt or dust on video footage is hard to remove in post-production.

Could you describe how you would focus using the Haida 10 stop ND filter for still photos? The image would be too dark to focus with the filter inserted first. But if one focuses without the filter first and then removes the lens to insert the filter, wouldn't you lose focus?

Larry Alboher I haven’t tried that, it might be safer to bump your ISO to get the focus, lock focus then re-expose.

What has been your impression of these now that you've had them a couple of weeks? Have you done much since this video? I saw Dustin Abbott review them as well and he tested their claim of being color nuetral and they faired very well for that. I'm watching becuase I'm doing some real estate work now and also some travel landscape stuff and all I have is a battis 18mm 2.8. It is an excellent lens but I need a little more versatility. I keep going back and forth between this lens and the Tamron but am seriously leaning to this despite the filter issue. I like to take bracketed landscape anyway.

Dennis Moncla Yep the filters work great! Not as easy as a variable but they do the job!

I bought this lens a month ago and I now think it's my best investment over the last twelve months. I too have the Batis 18mm, which I use for timelapse on my second camera (it's the perfect setup for motion control giving perfect quality and being light). Then I have my 14-24 on my main body for stills. I went for the Nisi S5 filter system and it's ideal. When deciding on buying this lens you have to resign yourself to the fact that to use filters it's going to add size to both the lens and then carrying the filters. It's not my intention to put down the rear drop-in the filter system, I'm sure the quality is great BUT removing the lens in the field to fit a filter is not an option. Let's look at this task... Firstly you remove the lens, then quickly cover the camera sensor. Then fit the rear filter, now you must remove the cover from the camera and refit the lens, all without getting any dirt or dust on the sensor or rear of the lens...not possible! Then when the job is complete and you adjust your setting in camera and you realise 9 times or of 10 that you need a different strength of filter. The quality of the lens is amazing but again I'm not putting the drop-in filter down but before buying the lens you must consider is it going to work for you. I have it permanently fitted to one of my bodies with the Nisi holder, polariser and front cover attached. It's big but it's my new go-to set up. My filters include 1,2,3,6 and 10 stop ND's. 1,2,3 soft grad's. And a night pollution filter. I'm NOT sponsored by NISI, everything mentioned was bought and paid for.

@@TrevorMcGrathPhotography That's all cool but price of Nisi S5 filter system is just ridiculous. One can buy another lens for that price. Do you know about any alternatives to: Nisi S5 front filter option?
@TrevorMcGrathPhotography
@TrevorMcGrathPhotography 4 жыл бұрын
@@milkod2001 i know that Haida and Lee both have a 150mm system but I don't think either do a screw-in polariser. The polariser as you know is very important and the ay it is fitting by Nisi lets it rotate independently of the square filters fitted. Plus when the Nisi holder and polariser are fitted it provides a dust seal over the front of the lens. I know that your point is very valid about the price but when you are talking about any lens like this, a holder and the filters are going to be expensive.
