My heel would slide on the carpeted mat and I always buy weather mats anyway. Extra coverage of the 3D looks nice, but you are right that the OE rubber mats look and feel premium. If you drive in wintery places, 3D might make more sense. I ordered OE before I picked up the car; along with FM “mud flaps”

3D mats are nice but personally really like the black of the original. I put a bigger aluminum heel plate to reduce wear. It looks good as well.

Agreed, the deeper black of the oem mats looks a bit better, but I never would have thought about adding the heel plate. That’s smart!

Just ordered a pair of the Mazda rubber mats. The original Mazda carpet mats already have a hole on the drivers side (car only 8 months old). Thought about the more expensive, heavier pile Mazda carpet mats but decided I'd try some rubber ones for a change. A friend recommended Covercraft but their ones are more than 4 times the price- crazy. I'll see how I get on with the 50 euro official Mazda rubber ones- greetings from Alicante, Spain.

The "hole" reason OE floor mats wear out fast is owners are too lazy to shake them out regularly ... like OFTEN! Another obvious failure is simply no attempt to clean feet before getting in the car if one parks on dirt/sand/dg ...it does take a little effort but if you dont? Your floor mat and THEN the carpet underneath will look like trash VERY SOON....I obviously dont do such a great job practicing what I preach because my 2018 original driver side mat does not look aywhere near as new as the rest of the car....i mean I try which is the only reason they still look somewhat presentable....in my defense however I am not the original owner it had 9k miles when I bought it in 2020 I think .....still I am thinking about oem rubber mats....but $100! ouch! Someone here said they were only 50 in europe? cant find that here so far

I read reviewers hating on the 3D for hampering feet in already cramped peddle box so I wont take a chance given I do a lot of canyon carving. They do look nice and likely for non sporty drivers espeically with automatic (WTH?? lol) cars they might be best...idk that is NOT me

LMAO... how does the literal 3D-scanned and form fitted 3D mats hamper feet at all? It doesn't take up any more room than a few millimeters on each side - you're NOT going to notice that. And it certainly would not affect canyon carving.
