He just recognizes that if a stand up routine gets massive crowd response and you dont find it funny doesnt mean its bad, it just means it isnt your taste but the point is to entertain people and people were definitely entertained so therefore it is a good routine. His opinion on the jokes is completely irrelevant on it being a good performance or not, what the crowd thinks is best is what matters because his job is to entertain the crowd, not alfie.

I think part of what made it funny was that we were expecting it to be shockingly unfunny, so when there were parts that actually were a little funny it was unexpected which made them funnier
