The Northern part of the country produces more than 50% of the agricultural products sold in the southern part of the country in addition to what is obtaining in the region. Farmers do not go to farm and Senator Ndume knows the reason why? Farmers in the north are afraid to go to farm not because of any attack from the bandits, kidnappers and terrorists from the South. The solution to change the situation around depends on people like the Senator, leaders and politicians in the reason. It is not fair to accuse the president of Nigeria being destroyed under him due to hunger. If the farmers were not afraid to go to farm in the northern part of the country and elsewhere in the country there will be food every where. Coming from the same political party with the president,. Senator Ndume should be watchful of comments made that are directly pointing to him. What efforts is he making to address the farmers fear to go to farm? The President made a move today to create the Ministry of Livestock Development to ease the tension between the farmers and the herders in the country and that is what Senator Ndume should be addressing now. This week the government announced lifting of import duty on some major product including the rice that the Senator is given as an example. This move is to allowed the import as subsidy and bring the prices down in the country. One way the lawmakers can assist the masses is for the Senators to come up with a prayer that calls for minimum of 10% of their earnings for a specified period of time. Senator Ndume can afford a bag of rice for the price mentioned but most people in his constituency cannot. The parliament is not meant for sweet talks that will be pleasing to the masses but action.
