5 years since ive found this band and ive gone through their discography more than i can remember and this track (the whole painters of the tempest) is outstanding. and plague is great , forget not'' one of the best songs ive heard in my life too , of petrichor is mindblowing, devour me colossus too, libera Pt1&2 gets me so high but there's nothing like painters of the tempest i don't think they'll ever top it ( imo )

Lyrics: {Movement 1: Creator} [Verse 1: Xenoyr] Come forth dark herald Bringer of light Born by the burning swans and his plague breath Creator of the dream coil, a halo aloft As hands entwine Painters of the tempest, with their red hands The world their canvas Through the mist of the stormglass [Violin Solo: Tim Charles] [Pre-Chorus 1: Xenoyr] And Bruegel dreamt the angels above As Bosch danced in earthly delight [Chorus 1: Tim] Angels fall Into the canvas Reaching for the light Heaven is empty And all the beauty is here [Verse 2: Xenoyr] Upon this bone palette The sway of nine-tails Layered lashings of euphoria and chaos Triptychs unfold like wings As the arms of our fathers bear the weight of what they've done Anti-matter-martyrs [Bridge: Tim] Warmth of life Where they sing of fire Children's eyes, for they all shine As tears rise, oceans of flame billow When all dreams lose hope [Pre-Chorus 2: Xenoyr] And Bruegel wept for the fading sun Where have all the angels gone? [Chorus 2: Tim, Xenoyr] Angels fall Into the canvas Reaching for the light Heaven is empty As hell below And hell below Painted by ghosts [Outro] Lords of lifeless eyes In this garden of wilted flowers Vultures spake the mother tongue [Guitar Solo: Benjamin Baret] ___ {Movement 2: Cynosure} [Verse: Tim] Hear the children Breathless sleep Where they dream a new day Echoing Oh when they dream Ebb and flow, free falling Beautiful and calm And fragile, and whole Where they dream a new day Through the coil they course and carousel Echoes Hear the lost children Hear the children sing Through the coil they carousel Within this stained glass womb They sing with open minds [Bass Solo: Brendan "Cygnus" Brown] [Violin Solo: Tim] [Guitar Solo: Benjamin] [Chorus: Xenoyr] Within this stained glass womb They see with open minds The event horizon and beyond ___ {Movement 3: Curator} [Verse: Xenoyr] A wasteland and so barren Haunted by a sea of pale faces The city of lost children Raising their death-shrouded flags Can you hear the redrum pounding? The heartbeat of many as one Curator, father, what have we become? [Chorus: Tim] Radiance, blinding horizon The brilliant sunrise Their horizons, where they seize this life Our children Painters, they are They are, the change Painters

The clean part that starts at 7:06 is identical, for 2 bars, to "Clandestinity Now"'s (by Solution .45) clean part that starts around 10:56. I think this song was inspired by that song. Give it a listen, that's an awesome song also! Anyways, the part of the solo at 10:16 is REALLY amazing! It gives me chills everytime. Awesome song, by far my favorite from this group.

Idk, I have to disagree honestly. While this song is probably my favorite from NeO, Citadel as a whole is not nearly as good as Portal of I (and now that Urn is out, I don't think it's as good as Urn either). That being said, This is still my 3rd favorite album ever. For me, one thing that drags this album below the others is the overuse of the little filler violin segments, and the fact that half the album are those (Painters of the Tempest Pt I & III, Devour Me Colossus Pt II) Imo, it's Portal of I > Urn > Citadel > Hiraeth (EP) > Sarabande to Nihil (EP). And the only reason I rate the EPs below the others is because of the production quality. Beyond the Hourglass off of Hiraeth is one of the best pieces of music ever created. As is Felo De Se. I just would have loved to hear them with the production quality of Urn and Citadel Even so, all of Ne Obliviscaris' music is the closest thing to perfect you will ever get, and every release of theirs is leagues ahead of literally any other band. They really don't have a single bad song.
@norwaydude967 жыл бұрын
I personally think compositionwise this album is superior but Portal of I still has some of my favourite moments from NeO. The final 3 tracks in particular are just massive.

Anybody who says that Opeths new style is better is clearly out of his or her mind. And nothing that they say or write or do can be taken seriously.
@eviltoad7467 жыл бұрын
MegaJiiRo Well, considering opinions exist I'd say they're not out their mind, and they can be taken seriously. I agree their new style isn't better than their old style, but I can see why people who do think so think that way. Because everyone has their opinions, and all opinions on music are perfectly valid. Everyone likes different things. Don't think less of someone just because they think differently than you.
