Author Neal Stephenson discusses the controversial ending to Game of Thrones and why endings are generally so hard to nail in works of fiction.
From the Neal Stephenson Conversation at the Interval, "Fall, or Dodge in Hell."
theinterval.or...
Fall, or Dodge in Hell is pure, unadulterated fun: a grand drama of analog and digital, man and machine, angels and demons, gods and followers, the finite and the eternal. In this exhilarating epic, Neal Stephenson raises profound existential questions and touches on the revolutionary breakthroughs that are transforming our future. Combining the technological, philosophical, and spiritual in one grand myth, he delivers a mind-blowing speculative literary saga for the modern age.

@@npmerrill It's a plotter. Each corner of the blackboard has a pulley that pulls a chalk robot around. Pretty cool and easy way to put a big custom drawing on the wall.

wow - me too. had to watch this 2x because I was too busy determining how much juice those cables were designed to pump and what that thing did with all that power.

Interesting enough he does not rush things in his new book, FALL. At 880 pages it should have been at least 200 pages shorter, perhaps 300.

Agreed. Great book, though there was a significant amount of Fall which could have been removed, with no story loss. Most of the Adam and Eve stuff could have been reduced.

D & D basically dropped trou and took a dump on the fans, actors and crew, and the previews good seasons (up to 6 when it began to slip.)

IMO Thrones was always "decent" but it was never that great. Last two seasons were dog sh*t lol

I kinda agree to that. The books are great actually but the series just went far and far from the book season by season, even though season 4 was the best, they started deviating from season 4.

@shashankvats753 The "Malazan books of the fallen" are GREAT. Glenn Cook fantasy series are GREAT. Thrones and Witcher...worth the read (I guess) but they are not GREAT. Thrones will never be finished and he's been stringing fans along since page 1 of first book. George is classic example of; "The art being infinitely better than the actual artist" (and the art isn't very good. To depressing and pointless) 2) The show was decent in beginning but it got on my nerves with 20mins of Reek in prison, Dragon queen just being overall "girl boss" and Sansa character being pointless. Jamie was only character I liked and we all seen what they did to my boy
