What a foolish statement. Most heads from the 70's lament the state of music now...and quite relish in the fact that their music was superior to the commercial diatribe we have now days. (bullshit of course...so much good music if you know haw to look) You sound like a kid who just stumbled on Pop rock from the 70's....

Coverdale sings an octave lower than Hughes, and sometimes could suffer from smoking. On a good day he is very good. Also, Ritchie wanted harmonies and a frontman. If Hughes had a bad night, it was probably when he was a cocaine wanker hogging the limelight to the detriment of the song, and trying to out-Gillan Ian Gillan by screaming off-key... although most of the time he is a better singer than Coverdale.

Blues based heavy rock bands i'm talking about. I saw Purple twice with gillan & glover. Also with David and Glenn. I saw led zeppelin in 1973 And Black Sabbath in 74 Live no one could touch Deep Purple. Sabbath was not that big in the day. Mostly guys playing smaller places. They really got huge in the DIO error surprisingly. It will always be Ozzy's band to me. BS was one of the greatest heavy rock bands in the world. They just got more commercial success later than Purple and Zeppelin. Any fool knows you can speak of them in the same breath as Purple and Zeppelin. Great point my brother rock on 🤘

Кстати, Рони тоже не смог переварить Дио. Посмотрите интервью с ним. Не случайно бытует мнение: Блэкмор is black devil of a guitar. Верю. Многие умерли. Гиллан потерял голос. А Блэкмор всё песенки поёт, именно песенки, как можно иначе назвать его дуэт с последней женой?

@bisquitnspanky None of us old dudes want to be old, but l learned to embrace it, because so many people in this world never make it to old age. In an age where the cities are full of urban zombies with their faces buried in their smartphones, l am so glad l was born in the 60's and lived through simpler times. Listening to great music on my radio, watching classic tv, riding my 'Dragster' and skateboard, having to be home before the streetlights came on, a labrador was my best friend in the world, playing football after school, soccer on weekends, family re-unions everytime a relative had an important event. Going to great live music, getting my first car and motorcycle and the freedom that brought. Loved my youth and love that l can sit here at home and with the click of a mouse re-live it all again. Old age and great memories are a privelege. Not a curse. Stay mad at the world and what you have left will go right on out the door with the bitterness.

@@rokyericksonroks They were not legends in 1974? Burn was a great album and a big success - true Stormbringer hadn't reached those heights, but they were still a top tier group along with Sabbath and ELP who were also at this concert. Only real groups ahead of them were Led Zep, Stones and Floyd at the time. Right after this when Blacmore left they lost a lot of shine despite still rocking with Tommy Bolin. Saw that band at Rockefeller Center. My ears are still ringing from that show. Besides Once a legend always a legend; you probably mean they weren't at their peak - which is debatable though I agree.
