This was a solo Nebraska hiking all-day trip in two parts (The burned and the not burned) enjoying the Buffalo Creek Wildlife Management Area (WMA). I hiked the west end that wasn't burned and then the east end that is burned. This WMA is located 5 miles south and 2.5 miles west of Melbeta in the Scotts Bluff and Banner Counties and is part of the Wildcat Hills ecosystem of Western Nebraska.
There is a very large parking lot for horse trailers and many roads to choose from, including many fire breaks from the November fire. I saw an abundance of wildlife while I was wandering through the Creek's bottom. Be very careful when coming up to the edges by the creeks and mountain tops they are at times sheer cliffs of sandstone.
