Fun fact about pinless tech: Toybiz's 2001 Spider-Man line has pinless joints, but they were made by sonic welding the inner and outer parts of limbs together. They stopped doing it because the joints were ABS and would get really loose grinding against each other, so they switched to PVC pinned joints. Also, I don't care whether it's pinless or not when it comes to ToyBiz figures considering the amount of sculpting hides the pins like on McFarlane or Sinister Six Spider-Man. Some figures even had sculpting on the pins, like nearly all the Green Goblins. But with Hasbro, they don't sculpt details anymore, they don't paint, they barely give accessories, so at least throw us a bone with pinless joints so it doesn't look like a Fisher Price toy.

Pinless joints usually make the figure look of a higher quality, but I generally don't care either way when it comes to determining if I'm going to purchase the fig or not.

i don't care about pinless joints, as long as the figure's doing good that's what matters

I also couldn't care any less about Pins or Pinless. Sometimes I'd rather have pins because I like to see the Pinless people cry over them lol

Pins don’t bother me unless they’re particularly horrible and ugly. To me it’s just part of action figures, it’s just a bit of suspension of disbelief. Pinless joints are fine if they’re done well, but even then I could take it or leave it. I don’t think pinless joints should come at the cost of less sculpting, painting, cheaper plastic, etc. It’s just not worth it. It’s no longer adding to a high quality aesthetic, it’s just… you have it, I guess, but if the rest of the figure looks cheap, does it matter?

As long as pins are small and blend in with sculpt with texture and paint it’s all fine but reality is that most pegs are big and always stand out be it with size or coloring.

Ah yes… NECA Casey Jones. An old chap of mine who lives in the States informed me that he recently found this figure at a store you Americans have called Target. Ever since he shared photos of his most recent find, I have been anticipating Anthony’s review. Sure enough-the figure does not disappoint. Whilst pinless joints are rather clever and look aesthetically appealing, I do not mind pins in my figures, so long as the colours match (e.g., blue paint-blue pins, red paint-red pins, flesh colour mold-flesh colour paint, etc.) Giovanni Marino, M.D.🇬🇧

At first, I do care about pins. Then when I started collecting Neca Gargoyles figures, I really don’t mind as long as the figures look good and well painted. The problem with Hasbro, people were asking for pinless, and then when they finally gave what people want, they ripped them off by taking away more paint than before, and do figures in more cheaper/gummier plastic. Nowadays, Hasbro just focus on face, and make the body plain, sometimes they throw pins/half pinned body here and there, basically doing less now that they have excuse.

This version of Casey is the one to get. I just ordered it from Target. I think it is exclusive to their store. Very cool.

It would be really nice to have the Neca figures pinless.

Personally, I also don't mind pins on figures, but if you go out there keep on advertising that your figures will be pinless and then give out a "new" product that still has pins, then it becomes a problem. The level of expectations changes once you tell people about your upgraded toys plus your figures being more expensive than usual.

In my opinion being pinless makes the sculpt look better, less broken up. I get that the articulation cuts break up the sculpt to, it’s just a different degree to me. Being pinless also leaves you with one less thing to be poorly color matched. With a kids toy does it matter, no but with a collectable, yes.

I don't care at all about the aesthetics of pinless joints. I feel it's a misnomer, the important part is the hard plastic elbows and knees that stop us getting rubbery figures. I want the pinless for that reason. On neca it barely matters cuz they already use a harder plastic for the majority of the figures.

I don’t care about pins as long as they are the same color and aren’t egregiously distracting. I just want the articulation to work. I would rather the engineering and production budget go into making a better figure overall with better accessories and paint.

I’d prefer pinless, it’s definitely not a deal breaker. It’s not a factor in purchasing. I like it when I’m looking and playing with them. Casey Jones is the only tmnt character I really like and will buy.

Pinless for me. Nothing annoys me more when it comes to action figures. ugly pins showing because the paint doesn't match is such a detractor to the aesthetic.

Absolutely pinless, exposed pin is just a cost-cutting tactics, most of this company that have non pinless figures have pinless shoulders so they obviously can but they're just being cheapskate

@@AnthonysCustoms well I don't, what's the difference between the joint in shoulder to the elbows and knees then? Because I see other cheap action figures with exposed shoulder pins
@AnthonysCustoms
@AnthonysCustoms Жыл бұрын
Doing insert molding for articulation is more expensive and difficult. That's why you see the lower end figures with shoulder pins. However, insert molding is significantly easier for singular joints. That's why it's common for shoulders, ankles, wrists, and single jointed elbows. When you have to do it for both ends of a double jointed elbow, it becomes much more difficult. Insert molding joints also tend to get loose over time because they really only have the internet tabs or notches providing resistance. Pinned joints have the tabs/notches and the pressure from the pins pulling the sides of the joint against the middle part. You also have more options as far as which plastics to use for pinned joints. For pinless, you have to make sure the different pieces don't fuse together in the molding process.
