I bought this figure and it's fantastic. The flame thrower accessory is what does it. The flame effect looks awesome. It also scales well with my McFarlane Norris creature and looking forward to the upcoming dog creature hopefully soon.

This is a cool figure and it’s a good likeness of Kurt Russell/ Macready. I’d love to see the other characters like Blair, Childs, Windows. Palmer, Nauls, Norris, etc with a build a figure option for The Thing in the final battle. Plus the Dogs/Thing creature along with Norris and Palmer Thing versions.

John Carpenter and Kurt Russell have had a strong dynamic relationship in film. John Carpenter's The Thing is my favorite film of his, followed by Big Trouble In Little China! I can't wait to see what NECA is going to do with the rest of this specific license - I'm sure some of Rob Bottin's special effects work is eagerly anticipated from other collectors that NECA could translate from the screen to collector's shelf real well. Great review! PS I can't wait to see more NECA predators and your review on them, I've been rewatching some of the older ones!

NECA have done a great job when it comes to the Ultimate Station Survival version of R.J. MacReady. The head sculpt isn't necessarily 100% accurate in terms of Kurt Russell's likeness, but it still looks pretty good regardless. I like the inclusion of the second head sculpt. The same is true for the petri dish and blood effect. I also like the flamethrower as well. Though, it's unfortunate that the right shoulder strap ended up breaking. I would love to see NECA make a retro cloth version of R.J. MacReady. I've seen a few John Carpenter movies, but its been a while. My favorite film would be have to The Thing. With that aside, thanks as always Spot for another wonderful video. I really appreciate the continued hard work!

Considering this came with the blowtorch they really should have made an alternate head that had the snow and frost in his beard and on his face for an alternate head that way it kind of ties in. Because he had the blowtorch outside and when they brought him back in he had the blowtorch and he had the dynamite so yes that's my only complaint.

I got both the figures featured in this video to have one Macready with the worried expression putting the wire in the blood sample and one Macready with a neutral expression with the flamethrower and the dynamite looking paranoid. Those were the two situations I wanted to reenact so I am happy.

I love this movie so much. As time goes on and i watch it again, i cant believe how atmospheric it was eventhough the sets never really changed that much. Also the Thing really is the worst creature you could ever come across. Moreso than xenos. I really should get this guy.

The handle on the flamethrower broke on min as soon as tried to put him in the position holding it with both hands as shown. Glued it back but I probably wont try again and will just display him wearing either heating the spool or reacting to the Palmer thing.

Both very well made figures .just wish the first 1 version of mcgrady had the gun holster as well . ... And the hooded face head sculp that has a more chill expression.. that came with the second fig.. Other than that, both great 👍. As for moves. For me Halloween 1 and 2. The FOG , THE THING . And they live .. ajaja..yes

Yeah its really a shame that NECA couldn't have just put out one Macready figure, or release two but have the other one with the head having the hat permanently molded to it and maybe adding some snow dusting to it, so it felt like a true stand alone figure right? Nice review. I enjoyed the comparison of both figures. This new one is more to my liking but Neca stuff has poor articulation & they tend to break sometimes as you showed with the flame thrower strap. The Thing is a great movie & so is They Live but Big Trouble In Little China is my favorite John Carpenter film..I want figures of characters from that movie!

Within minutes of unboxing my figure, my flamethrower gun broke! Now I have to glue it back together. Just a warning to other collectors. It is kind of hard to get Macready to hold the flamethrower in both hands.
