The day this video came out I sent it to my girlfriend. 6 months earlier she had moved 250 miles away for her career and I was still in grad school. On one of my earlier trips to visit her she told me that this was her favorite song on the album, so the first thing I did was send her the link before even watching it. This video came out on a Friday, I remember because she was coming back into town to visit for the weekend. We were together for about a year before I introduced her to my mom, I'm a very private and introverted person who has a hard time opening up about my life to even my own family. Earlier in the day this video came out, that same friday, I finally told my dad about her. I don't have a very close relationship with my father, but we still love each other and he told me he was happy for me and that he would like to meet her. That evening after the sun had set, she arrived at my apartment and I let her in to tell her about what I did that day. Before I could say anything she told me she was leaving. She wanted to try to live for herself and she wasn't going to be my parachute anymore.
