They said that Covid was a hindrance in their work for the most part, but if it comes to discussing about how the story should go, it shouldn't really be a problem right? I mean, google meet, zoom, skype, phone calls, emails and i don't know maybe even facebook messages exists. So in a way you can't help but think that maybe some of their writers...don't actually know what they are doing. There was actually a really great moment at the end, before Rookie goes to Camavor with Viego, Senna, Gwen and the Maiden, where Lucian suggests that instead of Senna sacrificing herself, the other Sentinels should fight only for Senna's sake, to which she responds by comparing Lucian to Viego, because just like Viego, Lucian is kinda prepared to let the world burn to save his loved one, as Senna remarks. I was really surprised by that writing and found it REALLY interesting.

What i learned from this event is that big events with skins and passes and the lore game are super fun! but never in anyway let them intermingle with the canon lore, the spirit blossom was super cool because was just a bunch of cools skins with theis cool lore, but in this event it felt that the skins were the main drive force and the canon lore had to be adapted to fit them, sad.

to be fair the spirit blossom event was also about canon lore, but it made it much better because it was about Ionia gods and the realm of death which we haven´t explored yet, while this event was way to huge for the time they had and the team working on the event has not enough knowledge about the lore of each character because if they had, they would have characters like karthus and Yorrick play a bigger role in this. It feels like the skin team was working on this event more then the lore team, while spirit blossom expended on the ionia lore without conflicting with characters and their backstorys

I feel like they had a great idea of what they wanted the story to be overall but got REALLY lost on the details. Sentinels that don't make any sense joining, some champions that have no real purpose in the story, and all of them getting half assed arcs (or none at all). I imagine someone on the lore team just asking in a zoom meeting "hey but what is Pyke driven by?" and marketing team being like "uh well figure something out when the time comes, just put him in there k?"

I just hated this event so much. It's already bad enough that I enjoy the spirit blossom event even more and the Odyssey event was probably the best event in all 10 years. But even so this event would probably be in my bottom list. The lore is terrible being we don't see Hecarim, Kalista, Maoki or any other of the shadow isles. The characters interactions are just pure cringe sometimes even the "Newbie" being they had no reason for us to even be in there. It's just a constant mess. It feels like the amount of effort they put in this huge event that was planned for like, 2+ years was just the riot team smoking a blunt.

I don't see how the ending can be seen as even remotely good. We had all these Ruinations bombarding the world for what, weeks, months? And at the end everything goes back to the same status quo and all that seems to come out of it is that the Hot King of the Shadow Isles now has another name. The characters who were alive due to Isolde still remain just fine, the ones who died at the end get revived, the ones who got ruined just get back to normal, Vex is ignored despite being the main culprit, and so on. And then Yorick, a champion that should have had a crucial role in the story of the Ruined Kind and the Isles, is relegated to mere "plot device giver" while contradicting multiple aspects from his lore. The initial concept may have been good, but the steps taken to get there were horrible for multiple reasons, and then the ending makes it so that the start might as well not have existed. I wouldn't be surprised if the next time we see Riven she's still in the Noxian arena as if she never even left. Unless by "the ending was good" you mean that we can at least pretend that it never happened since it won't affect anything? In that case, sure.

My theory is that Viego was so lost in his memories and anguish and trauma that he existed, but was lost in his own mind and past. Thresh brought him back by essentially snapping him out of that haze, doing so for one reason; Senna. She was the one who got away, someone he had in his clutches that he can no longer torment. That idea is something Thresh cannot abide, but he lacks the ability now to take on Lucian and Senna on his own. Hence, he needed to awaken Viego.

Aigth, I have a theory why viego wasn't revived in the visual novel. So the Absorver revives the killer recent victims. And Isolde RECENT Victims are Gwen and Senna, maiden of the mist. This just theory. A GAME THEORY

Karthus is probably going to be retconned to work with Mordekaiser instead, he fits the bill for a Herald of an undead warmonger. Karthus' character is really garbage in his current state, talking about death as if he actually thought being an undead was good and peaceful

It’s a common theme between him and thresh he dislikes(shackling the dead), he wants every version of death to come to pass while enjoying themselves in their undead state. He is the antithesis to Soraka, while one wants everyone to enjoy themselves and prosper in life the other wants everyone to prosper in freedom from the constraints of a mortal body.

@@rafasilva1265 fairly certain the only reason why he’s depicted as such is for combat and sinister thematics. since based off his lore and quotes he should have a bigger array of soul variation then just wailing ones. Best example I can give is Leona’s depiction as a protector through in game quotes when really she’s also a persecutor, or Diana’s spiteful hate ridden quotes in game vs her caring demeanor in the event and in LOR.

the fact that at the beginning of the comic, the picture of the absolver that lucian finds is completely inaccurate just boils me. akshan himself mentions that the grappling hook was his addition to the weapon after shadya had died, so it being depicted in the sentinel hq's is just another sign of laziness from riot lol

The way that there are like at least 3 different versions of the Ruination... There's the in-game visual novel, the cinematics, and the comic. Somehow, all three manage to be significantly different from each other despite them supposedly telling the same story.

After all he's been through, after all he's done to protect Senna, seeing that man stand and cry helplessly in the middle of the final fight, as his wife was disappearing into the portal right in front of his eyes... that was somehow really sad and emotional for me. this event feels like the lore team, the marketing team, and the skins team had big fight and were like "i'm gonna do my thing and you have to deal" everything feels like it came from different studios, the comic, then skins, the visual novel. All made with the same theme but it doesn't make sense all together. I'm afraid for what they gonna do to Morde, Liss and the void.

After the latest comic I have actually decided the one way I can accept the new Thresh skin is that he's of course arrogant enough to try and replace Viego in every way since he already says the Ruined King is wasting his potential. So not only does he syphon his power but his new look is based on Viego's own, not because he cares to be attractive but just as his own indirect way to mock the king in an "I can do it better" kind of way. Because Thresh himself wouldn't have much use or desire for his old human form, but if all this power can allow him for a jab at his "master" I think maybe he'd take that chance to do just that.

At this point there is no salvation for the lore except making whole event non cannon. There is just no way to explain what all other characters were doing when literally end of the world was coming. But hey i guess selling skins is more important than having coherent story.

as much as I love the Sentinel Graves skin, I can't help but feel like someone like Ziggs or Heimerdinger could've been a better representation for Piltover and Zaun . . . . . especially since we missed out on having a Sentinel Poppy skin in Demacia! where's the Yordle love Rito?! (I am aware we're getting a new Yordle champion, but imo Graves would've made more sense to be the Bilgewater champ, and we'd have had more diversity within the Sentinel crew, and maybe even Ruined Jinx, which coudl've been AMAZING)

Yordles aren't sexy or popular enough to sell skins for. It's that simple. Why do you think it's always Vayne, Riven, Irelia, Pyke, Miss Fortune? They're popular waifus that sell skins. It's why Riven and Vayne were both in Spirit Blossom too. Personally, i'd have loved Sentinel Jinx. Just firing wildly into hordes of Wraiths could've been super fun and she fits the "Guardians of the Galaxy" vibe the team wanted.

Few corrections Akshan's weapon only seems to work on recent kills, that's why Viego didn't come back to life. Akshan even mentions how it might be too late for Shadya. Akshan also explains why it worked on Senna and Gwen, he says it was because Isolde ripped her fragments from Senna and Gwen, killing them. Spirit Blossom (and its VN) are not canon Personal theory I wonder how far has Thresh thought about this, what if the only reason Senna came back was because it was all part of Thresh's plan to defeat Viego and take his place

Honestly, in my eyes the event failed on several levels: - Rookie is between canon and not canon, I agree on the point that his self-sacrifice was ruined. But generally, technically the choices make it already questionable how canon Rookie really is, and in the comic he has been completely left out so far. - The game event is not as enjoyable because the chosen characters (specifically Olaf, Rengar and Pyke) ruin it with their behaviour, although the reasons for their recruitment do just enough sense. - Going more into the game's event, playing the later regions revealed to me that it really would have been a big grind, and the "fix" with 600 influence points per game just ruined the concept altogether. - The missing characters in the comic (Olaf, Graves, Diana, Rengar, Pyke) imply as if there weren't even there, specifically questionable is why Vex isn't shown who seems to play an important role. - Since I am on the topic of missing characters, has everyone already forgotten that some are technically missing? They did tease canonically that they would end up somewhere, and most already know that it is about the Ruined King game. So since it should be canon, where are they now in the current lore? So overall, not only is the game event unsatisfactory, but the comic also leaves some questionable holes for once the game's event ends.

Just tossing this out there, but the way the absolver works is by killing the cause of death. Shooting isolde brought back gwen and senna because while viego was the killer, she was the cause. It's also implied that while someone else may have killed akshan's master, its likely that akshan himself was the cause of her death (thus his focus and randomly picking targets. He doesn't know who, he's just projecting his guilt onto others). Also, just tossing this out there, but I suspect we might see a kind of civil war for the shadow isles in the future. Possibly 3 or 5 sided. Thresh, who is trying to seize power, Yorick, trying to save the blessed isles, Moakai trying to uncorrupt the land and Karthus, who was not someone corrupted by the original harrowing but was instead someone from the outside that came to the shadow isles because he loved it...and it loved him back. Plus the possibility of Mord trying to conqour it for his own plan of creating his own afterlife. At the very least, I could see Thresh's new position being seriously challenged by Karthus. Especially works with their character dynamics, since thresh isn't about death, he's about suffering. Where as Karthus is about releasing people from suffering, with death. I could almost see them playing Karthus up as the pseudo-good guy, since, while definitely evil, his intentions actually come from a good intent. He's trying to help people....he just worships death and when all you have is a hammer, everythings a nail.

Well, technically, the reason why the other sentinels didn't appear in the comic is because the comic is also in wr and wr doesn't have the other sentinel skins, so they don't show them. And before anybody said anything,Viego was planned to be released in wr patch 2.4 but his kit is just "too complex for mobile platform" (bugs) , so they have to ice box him. All of the champions in the comic is already (and planned to be) in wild rift so I guess that's the reason, or not.

Imagine if instead of Viego getting tied up by Gwen, He got thrown into one of Vex's portals, and after drifting for a long time in between dimensions, he somehow ended up in Mordekaiser's realm of death, and with no Isolde to make him care about the World anymore, he instead becomes an ally to Mordekaiser, with the objective to put an end to the world that took away his love.

I think the comics was made for the Wild Rift version of the event because in Wild Rift there are only 3 new sentinal: Vayn, Riven and Irelia That can explain why there are only a few sentinal About why we can’t see the rookie in the comics the Wild Rift version makes some sens cause in the he is something like a “baseguard” it never mentiond that he left it and he only talks to tham in the base. I want to know: If the maiden was Isolde all along then why she just said to Yorick every time to kill himself, or why Viego didnt go instantlly to catch the Isolde fragment that was in his very isles. And i personally think Yorick need the Tears of life because every bit of mist could fester on him if he didnt have it, like you know, his monk brothers, and for last my headcannon is that the Tears of life gave Yorick vitality to live a thousand years in such deplorable conditions, if Yorick gave his tears of life he would have the same fate as his Monk brothers or the boy at Thresh cinematic

Everything turned black to white so he survived nearly the lantern and in the spirit blossom event its a struggle between the character being in the spirit realm but not really dead though.

This could’ve been an incredible event, there are so so many people that would likely be involved in the ruination and if the event got even half of them and introduced them and made use of their characters properly it could’ve been something legendary. Unfortunately they instead got a group of characters who had little to nothing to do with the harrowing and portrayed them incredibly poorly in a story with many many plot holes. I myself didn’t dislike the event per se, I even liked it just bc I was able to put the dialogue aside and hype aside and take it for what it was, but I would’ve LOVED the event if it had lived up to even half of it’s potential.

I slowly went back to LoL due to WR and when i heard about the ruination event i came back to LoL pc completely cuz i have been following that story for years now. I even spent money to buy a event pass for all 4 games and finished the event on all 4 games. gotta say i am happy i found my love for LoL PC again. this event was pretty underwhelming and even if i liked the general story. i probably wont make the same mistake and spend so much money on event passes

Hey Necrit, I assume the next canon event will get back to the Demacia plotline, and I would love a video discussing what direction you think they could take the story. There is a pretty good debate on who should win, and honestly, I don't think Demacia should even stand as a nation after this story gets wrapped up. I could see them breaking Demacia into smaller city-states if Sylas wins. I will be honest, I want him to win. Some people say that he went too far, but Demacia is in the middle of an actual literal genocide, so him killing off nobles as an act of war is perfectly ok in my eyes. You need to break the chain of command to win any war, and nobles are just the middlemen of the crown. They rule over the peasants. That is their job. They aren't civilians. They are High-level members of the enemy ruling class. They control the taxes, they control conscription, they control the lands for the kingdom. They are an extension of the king's power over the land. You either need to run them completely out of the country or outright kill them. So I don't think Sylas went too far killing that noble in the slightest. Aside from all that, I feel like kayle and Morgana have to make an appearance by the end. Kayle specifically could do almost anything and be on almost any side, depending on how cutting off her emotions affects her.

Correct me if I'm wrong but how the Absolver works is it revives the most recent kill of a person, so by technically killing Senna, Gwen and The Maiden of the Mist by Isolde they are the one's who got revived and not Viego.
