…the book’s original name wasn’t Necronomicon. It was originally called Kitab Al Azif which meant the sound of nocturnal creatures which in Arabic folklore was commonly believed to be the whispering of djinn or demons in the desert.

@@truthspreader1996 the book was originally Kitab Al Azif, when the Byzantine scholar Theodorus Philetas got ahold of it and translated it to Greek in 950 C.E. he noticed it had spells about spirits and the undead and combined with the fact he learned the original name related to desert spirits it caused him to change its name to Necronomicon which roughly meant “the book of the law of the dead.”

This is an awesome take on the Necronomicon...I like the aspect that each translation grimly reflects the era that it was created in while losing none of its original content or impact. The classic take on the multiple translations is that each subsequent translation became more paraphrased and watered down, as though the translators were horrified by the material they were working with.

There's an identical book out there created to fool unsuspecting thieves. The same spells that summoms warriors to fight for you will be summoned to fight you. Due to many who steal this grimnoire are nerds, often those warriors don't even fight them but end up shoving those nerds in lockers. It's actually quite sad...how many nerds simply cower without putting up a fight.
