We finished 15th out of 29 teams in MLS, with a roster spend of 23rd of 29 teams. There are obvious flaws in the team, but the GM and coach have overachieved given the budget they have. Ownership needs to invest in the roster iif we are going to have a chance to be more competitive.

When do we face the facts that Ned has been a disappointment since he stepped into the role? When will we get someone that is radically dedicated to making this club a top tier team? Every fan has known for YEARS that our defense has been spotty and needed serious improvement. #nedout

Ned got us Evander....and Jona....and Kamal....and Maxine....THIS YEAR. Those are MASSIVE signings for a SMALL MARKET club like Portland. This Portland fan base is SO ridiculously misled to think that we are just going to sign Vini Jr and Virgil. We are in Portland Oregon. Same issue with the Blazers. What needs to happen is we need to pay Evander. Rebuild our CB pairings. Chara, my favorite Timber of all time, needs to start being replaced. get your hashtags out of here.

@@zachstutzman8974 1000%. It isn't easy to attract folks to come to Portland. We also don't have the funds and backing to buy big names. If we do sign a big name, then comes the mob that complains about increased ticket prices.

Diego Chara said it best, "No more kids". We need players who are grown men to be competitive, hungry to win, not just content to make the team and get a paycheck. Evander needs to man-up.

Its funny they talk about accountability...While I agree the timing could have been better but what Evander said wasn't off at all...our back 4 defenders alone should tell you about management accountability...it was a wasted year and how it ended symbolized how bad we are at the defensive end

Ned has to go. Notice how he chokes every time he says "potentially" bringing in another player. MP isn't going to pay another dime from this roster next season. Other teams can figure out how to build teams, Ned can't even figure out how to keep a team together.

Couldn't disagree more with the others. Coach Neville got us into the playoffs and was saddled with a couple of key players who don't want to be here. Judge him based on where we are at the end of next year is what I say.

Refurbishing the stadium limits Merrill's ability to get better players, or he's a tightwad hoping to get lucky with bargain journeymen. It was a different league in 2015, the "ante" has been raised to be a playoff contender. There is no team leader on the field like we had with Diego Valeri. The defense is non-existent. Dairon Asprilla and Steve Clark bailed with years left in their careers.

Grabavoy is just as hubristic as ever. Rather than attacking Evander maybe Grabavoy could engage in some introspection on what he could do to help the team improve.

The Paulsons have decided to be a low budget team (only 2 teams spend appreciably less per the players’ union figures). Hopefully it’s a prelude to them selling after the World Cup. Best we can hope for. Between now and then, maybe Ned and Phil can stop criticizing players publicly.

This is all about MONEY. Got to spend money to win in MLS. Portland owners appear to be happy with just being competitive. Unless that changes, they will make minor adjustments and continue the same patterns.

I feel like some fans are being a little short sighted right now. Despite the last match, we actually had a good season. We won Cascadia, returned to the postseason, and looked really, really good in most of our matches. We won a lot of games we definitely would have lost in previous years, so let’s not throw the baby out with the bath water just yet.

"Despite the last match, we actually had a good season" We finished 9th out of 14 teams. We didn't make the playoffs we failed at the play-in game. "looked really, really good in most of our matches" Did you miss 1/2 the season? The attack started looking good, but the defense was terrible all season, then the attack went silent for the last 4-5 games.
