As a teacher, I appreciate the music class segment. Sometimes the hardest thing to tell a student is that if they want to get where they're going, they have to start with the basics.

I never realised that Mr Gibson was played by Art Alexakis, AKA the lead singer of Everclear, which is why the band got name dropped.

I'm looking forward to your full essay on Ned's Declassified. It looks like a fun show.

The language of the physical performances really feels like Scrubs and I'm just fully convinced they're two sister shows. Great TV Comedy

I remember liking Everclear as a kid, this show was the wrong vehicle for a comeback though.

4:12 FUN FACT: Nathan Norman, who played Todd, the original class clown, was in an all-kid Devo cover project called Dev2.0, formed by the members of the original Devo. They made an album of the group performing kid-friendly versions of 10 classic Devo songs, plus two new ones and a remake of an old one. Unfortunately, it was a total flop. But to be honest, I was obsessed with it when it came out; to each his or her own opinion. Also, the keyboardist of Dev2.0 is the same girl who played Foxface in “The Hunger Games.”

Oh man, I am thrilled to see my request get a video! I was 16 in 2006, and a fan of Everclear, but still occasionally watching Ned's Declassified because of my younger brother, so this episode blew my mind when it came on. Sort of the perfect crossover point of things I thought I was grown-up for liking and things I worried I was too old for. I do also wonder if Alexakis was motivated by the fact that his daughter would have been about 13 when this came out.

I love this show, it still holds up well today. Devon, Lindsey and Daniel still do a podcast together, and I'd rather see them in a reunion spinoff off than Zoey 101.

I just finished this week's episode which was released the same day as this video and they just so happened to talk about Lil JJ and that he appeared on the show!

Ned's Declassified is somewhat flawed but what I appreciate is that, even in shameless crosspromotion episodes like this, it still feels sincere and unpatronizing. You know better, but you still appreciate the heart and effort.

When I was in middle school, there were only 2 guys who could dance, and they were brothers. Most of our dances were us just in a circle watching them dance. Then they moved away. The dances were truly horrible after that. A few guys tried to step up and take their place, but they just weren’t as talented.

LOL I don't even remember that Everclear album. In my mind, they disappeared after that AWFUL "Volvo Driving Soccer Mom" song (which nowadays is mostly remembered as the pop rock MILF anthem that was quickly eclipsed by "Stacy's Mom." 2003 was a weird year.) Also, being a band that six years earlier was a staple of alternative rock stations now trying to gain an inroad to a younger audience by guesting on a Nickelodeon show is the very definition of trying to be everything to everyone. (Sorry, I had to.)

TIL that Everclear only had one Top 40 hit, "Wonderful" which hit #11. I'm only counting the Billboard Hot 100, no Modern Rock or Alternative charts.

From 2006? Amazing. I think l learned about it for the first time in like 2020 or 2022. I thought it was a 2013 or 2016 show.

I saw Ned's Declassified years after it aired, so it's cool to learn about what made these guest stars special at the time. Honestly I never really clocked in that these guys were famous guests.

How about an episode all around the cartoons that used to play during commercial breaks? Not the bumpers, but the cartoons like Housecats, Pet Store etc.

Just the other day I was thinking if I had a time machine that very moment I would go back to when Everclear was still awesome. I made the mistake of listening to their new stuff.
