I love this SO much. So impressive and unique. So sad too. I always felt for Marissa and felt the fan base wasn't sympathetic enough to her struggles.

This is one of my favourite Marissa tributes EVER. You captured the fragility, loneliness and optimism of her character so well, especially with doing a reverse uno-card on not letting her death define her. Marissa is so undervalued in the fandom as if it's a crime to be a teenage girl who feels so deeply.
@Lara-we1ww3 жыл бұрын
IKR shes so overlooked because of the brunette even tho shes more interesting. and i HATE how the writers toned down her character sm after s1 when she has had lines like "i always get what i want" in that season. and for what

Omg! Thank you for this, Marissa was such a complex character, I really don't get why people hated her so much. I mean, objectively, she definitely carried the whole show on her back, in fact, everything went downhill after her death. Seth and Summer were my fav, but she was such an important character too, and no offense to anyone, but Taylor and Ryan? Like... Seriously? They never gave me any buzz. The fantastic 4 were just Seth, Summer, Ryan and Marissa. Anyway, can't wait to see your SethxMarissa edit, and thanks again for this tribute to such an overhated character 👍

thank you so much!!! I've never understood why she gets so much hate either! I think it has a lot to do with her storylines generally being the more dramatic ones, and the show's tendency to focus on her issues through ryan's perspective without giving much thought to how marissa was being affected (I think the trey storyline in s2 was the worst of that). it's frustrating, but honestly I think in recent years I've seen a lot more people who are either rewatching the show as adults or watching it for the first time that love her and have sympathy for her, so that's something. like you said she definitely carried the show & it just did not work without her! and I'm so glad you're interested in a seth/marissa edit!!! they had such an interesting dynamic especially in early s1 that was just criminally underexplored so it's been really fun to revisit their little moments!

holy shit... this is probably one of the best edits i've ever seen i literally started crying while watching this 💔 marissa's character holds such a special place in my heart; she is so complex, and it's sad that many people don't seem to understand her... but for me she's an exceptional character; she's not just a drama queen, her story and her personality is so much deeper than that, and i think your video captured and expressed that perfectly so thank you for your work! the song choice is immaculate; this was amazing

This honestly captured her whole character perfectly. Her depression and loneliness and you could see how hurt she was underneath. It broke me when you captured her dad and Ryan telling her they’re leaving, as though she’s used to it

my baby deserved the absolute world. I don't think I'll ever be over her death and how stupid it was. Josh Schwartz literally writes woman terribly, and she is so over-hated that's one of the reason of she got killed. Marissa was the heart and soul of the show, and changed Ryan's life. After her death he was never the same, he loved her so so much. If anything she deserved a happy ending with her soulmate. Her dad left her and lost all his money, her sister got sent to boarding school and only made problems that she had to clean up, Juile was too busy being borderline a gold digger and narcissistic mother. Johnny fell in love with her and died, Alex got jealous and overprotective, and as soon she was getting her happy ending Volchok got drunk at basically murdered her and the saddest thing in season 4 he said he was trying to kill Ryan. Trey literally assaulted her, her mental health and addiction destroyed her life. I'm so mad and sad for her, this edit really showcased her struggles and trying desperately to overcome.
@ehehv132 жыл бұрын
i feel like the writers really hated her, lmao. i always thought that it's unfair to make one character so miserable; like, everyone else had a break at least sometimes (and also if i remember correctly all their problems weren't as shitty and traumatizing as marissa's, except maybe ryan's), but marissa was like a drama magnet, and the worst part is that she didn't ask for any of it (okay, yeah, i admit that sometimes she was a part of the problem too 'cause she was self-destructive but it also came from her mental health issues which were caused by all the mess that was her life), yet a lot of viewers call her 'drama queen' and HATE her even though she's just a human after all; and not just a human but a really lonely teenage girl who had emotionally abusive parents (yeah, maybe jimmy wasn't as bad as julie, but he was literally a child in adult's body, so that's not a good parenting either) and a lot of other shit in her life and she dealt with it the way she could even though it was not perfect; i just wish people had more empathy for her, especially the writers who decided to kill her just when she finally got the chance to start over 👿 her story is so fucking tragic, and it breaks my heart even thinking about it 😥💔

omg this video broke my heart!! It's so freaking amazing and flawless but ugh my poor baby endured so much in those 3 seasons! Marissa was my fave on the show and I know that's a unpopular opinion but she just was! She was so raw and intense and complex and those are the characters I feel more drawn to, don't ask me why because even I don't know lol Marissa was my fave and ryissa was my otp so you can imagine how I felt after S3 lol I liked Taylor and all but I felt like they were trying so hard to replace Marissa and it just didn't work! honestly, it didn't even last a whole season without Marissa, that's very telling tbh! And I read that article Mischa gave and I feel terrible for her, to be treated like that at such a young age has to be difficult to endure! it's no wonder why the end of S3 happened the way it did! Anyways, this is absolutely FLAWLESS and shows all the pain and heartache and bad times she went through so perfectly! I honestly related to her more than I should've, I never drank or did drugs but I endured a lot of pain in my life too and I very easily could have! anyways, liked & faved!
@nedlovesyou3 жыл бұрын
thank you so much!! I was definitely also drawn to her because of how raw and complex she is, that's a perfect way of describing it -- I just love a messy character! and messy she certainly was, but she always endured! and I feel the same way about taylor and s4 -- I've only been able to watch it once because it hurt too much and I didn't mind ryan/taylor, but it just felt like a COMPLETELY different show without marissa. I'm so glad you liked this

"i keep trying to go back to the life i remember..." YEAH SHE DESERVED THAT HAPPY ENDING THE MOST IDC. THANK YOU SM IM CRYING AND HAVING A BREAKDOWN OVER HER AGAIN. taylor was such a bad fucking replacement her character wasnt realistic at all despite the writers giving her the same similar parent drama to marissa because WHAT teenager is able to see it in a positive light? not giving her an arc was the worst idea they could have did. the show wouldve gone in the right direction if they did but it just ended up being the same tired drama w overly cheesy, meaningless dialogues.

It was supposed to be Rayan the main character, but in the end, the all show was focused on Marissa and her struggles, she was the star of the serie, so that's why a lot of fans left the show in season 4, people watch the show mainly for Marissa...

She was supposed to go with her Dad on his boat and leave her past . Why did they have to KILL her ? She could have been written off the show with the storyline of a happy ending with her Father. It's really surprising she lasted even to high school graduation. So tragic. Loved the edit , though.

This was lovely. Marissa was by far my least favorite part of the show--all the worst story-lines seemed revolved around her and her random hookups--but this was an amazing tribute and helps me appreciate her a bit more.

@@nedlovesyou As the show shifted into becoming more of a comedy drama, Marissa always felt like a relic of the show's original teen drama roots. She never really adapted to the conversion and her storylines reflected that. Everything seemed to work better without her dropping in with emo and angst. Despite that, I had no problems with the actress. She did a fine job. I just tended to check out during her sections of the show because her storylines bored me.

@@djsosonut "comedy drama" so seth smoking pot and burned down a whole ass building just bc he forgot to put it out was okay? give me a fucking break. at least marissa had real issues.
@djsosonut3 жыл бұрын
@@Lara-we1ww I don't mind that Marissa had issues. I find her _storylines_ boring and more annoying than the character herself. Like the shitshow that was Oliver and the guy that would eventually get her killed, Kevin. And most of the characters where at the their most boring with their interactions with her. Luke was a better character when his story didn't revolve around her. Same with Julie. Once they left Mexico in season 1, Marissa's storylines were just a black hole of suck. They managed to make a lesbian relationship between Mischa Barton and _Olivia Fucking Wilde_ boring. That takes talent. If you liked all of that. Well. More power to you. At least someone did.
@Lara-we1ww3 жыл бұрын
@@djsosonut Well they did all that because she was a plot device for Ryan and wasnt written for her arc. Luke literally cheated on her and she was just there being there for Oliver just like Ryan w Theresa. Marissa put up w theresa during all that shit even though she didnt have to but ryan was also annoying in there. That situation is just like johnny except now its marissa. i dont know why ur saying this to a MARISSA edit in the first place.
@Lara-we1ww3 жыл бұрын
the writers had plenty of opportunity making seth and marissa smoke pot together in s3 smh also i dont know why they just act like marissas drinking was such a big deal like i see it more like brooke davis and they potrayed that pretty well.. both of them resorted to that when they were struggling you cant tell me theyre not the same character.
