You'll notice that these scenes begin with the player character's vehicle idling in place, and end with a regular police chase without all the insanity. I think these scenes are dream sequences of the player's character where he's sleeping in his car, hears the cops coming and imagines these crazy situations right before he wakes up and bolts.

I know a lot of people don’t like Most Wanted 2012 due to its lack of feeling like a sequel to the game most people expecting it grew up with but holy shit is this cool. Well I say this is probably the scariest racing game I've played so far. When hitting the side mirrors of a civilian car can make you go flying across the street. It's genuinely scary trying to turn a corner on a populated city and not knowing how many civilian cars are stopping at a red light. Those are more effective than an SUV roadblock ffs.
