My theory is that the real beta version of Rockport and Camden is the one they show you in the intro of the game, where it shows us the Hero's BMW and Mia's Mazda going in through the camden tunnel and if you pay attention and look closely, the tunnel didn't have any pillars and there is a cut warehouse from the docks where the BMW do a 180 spin and then does the burnout to wrap the intro up, I think that's the real Beta version of Rockport

an easy way to do this without removing race barriers is to go to the quick race menu, go to circuit and go into 20.1.1. That is a scrapped race that has unfinished barriers which you can go around and freeroam.

LBPPlayer7 You mean that one where the barrier is missing? Did it when I was a kid accidentally, didnt even know there is freeroam. I spent a good time and I can say that map was very different. When I came to forrest part, there was NO minimap and cars didnt spawn

My guess at 3:39 the devs make a error making of the map and at 3:51 the cobblestone texture in the shortcut is unfinished and you can also see that the tarmac is visible to see.

same with other minimap stuff, i think its earlier version marking out every bit of sideroad excessively, probably painted over ground textures and not updated later, hence so much is marked in light gray so much that it makes soem areas seem connected even tho it never was the case.

StewiebossFTW The tress: It's because the game wasn't finished yet, and some trees were most likely cut in the demo, so that explains that. And the weather is the result of PCSX2 skipping alot of in-game effects.

Марк Мундриевский So? The game spawns there because it's the game spawn location. The main menu isn't normally acessible, Black Box dind't think players would acess the beta menu, and spawn in free roam. The demo wasn't inteded to do that

Nope. You are all wrong here. If you are paying a bit of attention, you will see that in races, some parts from the minimap will be totally black - unloaded. Only when you really are in free roam or a "Challenge Series" event you will have the whole map loaded. So, this hack should be applied on a "Challenge Series" event.

@@StrongSolo The PS3 version is just a port of the PS2 version. There's basically no advantage. The Xbox 360 version was made with better assets and effects to showcase the new generation of consoles at the time. The PC version is just now getting some of those assets so you can see them at 1080p or higher and at 60 FPS.

@@StrongSolo Are you serious? Comparing past generation with at the time next gen console version. Obviously X360 version will have much higher fidelity assets. PS2 version doesnt look bad. Gamecube is actually bad because they had to sacrifice so much to make it fit on these dumb 1.5gb disks with a game that normally weights around 3-4GB. PS2 and Xbox have unique pink sunset weather skybox and lighting that no other version has.
