I really don't understand where the misconception came from that undercover used the most wanted map as most wanted was one big city and undercover was 3 different cities (hence the name TRI-City Bay) which have no resemblance to Rockport at all...

For those who didn’t knew, this version of Undercover for the PS2 was actually a reskin of Most Wanted from 2005. There was lots of places that I remembered from MW that were in this version such as the docks when you beat Razor at the end of MW. When I played the PS3 version it was a different game lol.

its a reskinned carbon. all of the menus (and the hidden unused ones) are the exact same from carbon. the crew vinyls and stuff are still there. using carbons elf you can get to the push start screen of undercover before the game crashes :p

Yeah. Ok that in the PS3 version you have a larger map, but you can't go the events by GPS, you can't select the difficulty level, you can't chose your initial car, the police is dumb and the handling is unattractive, cause you have to maintain the car constantly on max speed to win

Funny how people bash on this versus the non-ps2 versions of this game, and yet this carried over important features from NFSMW and NFSC that those versions completley dropped. In PC, PS3, XBox 360, Wii, or PS2 form, this game was wildly inconsistent with no clear direction imo. The gameplay did not play into the atmosphere or story at all, the story was lackluster, the physics didn't let you play with how the car drives. Overall, Black Box dropped the ball here, and I can't help thinking that given the competency they demonstrated in all their previous games, this was due to some sort of overhead pressure which eventually backed them into the corner of making NFS The Run; a game which while it was a technical milestone (developing a competent racing game on a universal genre engine like Frostbite 1) and probably exceedingly difficult to develop as a result, was similarly lackluster as an experience. This was the beginning of the end for Black Box, and while they managed to certainly bring that spark back with NFSW, the spark eventually faded, again, under the rule of the overlords of EA... you will be missed :'( (And yes, I know this version of the game was developed by a different studio to Black Box, but that only serves to back up my point...) EDIT: I realise now, it's possible that NFSW began development as NFSUc hit the market, or before that! So, they released NFSUc, then suddenly began development on a new game straight after their previous game had lackluster sales. Suddenly, halfway through the development of that, they began development of a new game for consoles based on a technical concept nobody had ever achieved before. All of that in about 3 years, following which, EA would give them less and less opportunity, leaving them to slowly whither away working on a passion project of theirs that both knew wouldn't make enough money in the long run to allow them to survive. No wonder they burnt out after Undercover...

I think the main reason why both pros treet & undercover weren't always well received as the previous & future NFS games was the fact EA Black box developing a game called skate (a skateboarding game) while at the same time developing pro street (PlayStation 2, Wii, Xbox 360, PS3, & PC) and undercover (PS3, Xbox 360, & PC) resulting both Pro street and undercover rushed in development.

This game is my favorite game. I don’t know why, but it was the first NFS game I played in the Wii version. So I see how this version was so hated, because there are a lot of things this version that has gone wrong! Like the Wii/ps2 map is similar to NFS MW(2005), this was a reskinned NFS Carbon, because of its performance, customization, and its cars, and of course it’s handing is flawed. And when you start off with first car on Career mode, you don’t even need it a new car, just like I said about the performance. The performance is infinite, which makes the game too easy to enjoy and finish. So my opinion about this version is that it could of been better if they just put more effort into this while working on the new version, so this version was probably rushed and didn’t have enough time to get it done. So it’s very disappointing how this was claimed as the worst NFS series, due to its lack of effort.

I remember playing the PS2 version of NFS: Undercover for hours on end right back in 2009! I've got to admit that I really enjoyed it. I have played the PC version of the game many times over, which is not the best need for speed (due to how repetitive the game felt and the orange tint which I personally thought was an eyesore), however certainly not the worst NFS game. This PS2 version however felt different. It felt very much alike NFS: Most Wanted from 2005, but with new things added. I also like how the Wii and PS2 was an alternative game to the PS3, PC and X360 version of the game, and that was not a bad thing with Undercover (though the Wii and PS2 versions of Hot Pursuit and The Run were god awful). I think I much preferred the map in this version of the game to the one on the HD consoles.

You a undercover cop and your job is to take down a car smudging ring you do so but in the end a Japanese crew kidnaps the fbi woman aka your boss but in a last minute she kills the Japanese crew and take the brief case filled with important stuff you go after her in a identical car and have to survive the cops and try to crash her car in the you do so she put away your jobs done and you got a new college gf that was building up as a subplot

And after that KZbin suggested me your video with a game that lied in dust for 10 years. 10 years!11 ps2 version rulez, it feels amazing, track style design amazing too))) And I think I will try wii version as well. Reshade will give you even better picture then you have in video. p.p.s Also, probably, if there will be people who did like Underground physics even more - all the NFS series for psp is a series of an additional chapters to Underground.

Undercover was most likely just beyond what the PS2 could handle, so they weren't able to downgrade the 7th gen version.

If they wanted do, they would do it. For example, thigs like graphics or AL was not really improved compared to previous games (for me, Undercover has only good looking cars, nothing beyond this), so they could use different engine. The only downgraded thing would be graphics (less anty-aliasing, less details or different resolutions, etc.) but gameplay would be till the same as other ones (unlike PSP, obviously). It's EA. Undercover was rushed on every platform, so we have what we have. They could (i think i overuse this word, but...fuck it, shhh...) release a very good version of Undercover for X360, PS3 and PC free of glitches and with good gameplay, AND good, downgraded version for PS2. Instead, we has PC/7th gen ver glitched as hell, and version for PS2, that sorta looks like a PSP game. For EA, games are just a buisiness.. Sad, but true.

Chomik Yeah undercover had some really annoying glitches like the map disappearing and not being able to finish a race because of it. The map was a bigger compared to carbon, maybe slightly too big for last gen hardware.

The PS2 version had major framerate issues as it was (partly because it probably wasn't very well optimised) but I think the main factor that made it look considerably worse than all the other PS2 NFS's was the fact that it had much less (if any) motion blur.

Fun fact, I actually played this game before most wanted and I didn't know that this map was actually a remodeling of most wanted it was after I played most wanted in 2016, then I watched some videos of undercover PS2 and saw that the map is almost identical to most wanted. But it's still a great game I enjoyed it so much back then. I remember failing save Carmen's mission several times. But it's worth it and I remain grateful for ever experiencing this.

Me acuerdo que había pantallas dónde podías poner la nitro chocar algún auto y en ese momento relantisar la pantalla, si estabas en una calle elevada!ERA LO MEJOR DEL MUNDO VER COMO EL AUTO QUE CHOCASTE VOLABA POR TODA LA PANTALLA DANDO TUMBOS EN CAMARA LENTA! SE VEIA UN EFECTO EXTRAORDINARIO,👏👏👏👏👏👏.
