This is incredibly useful. I've been staring at the description and photos in my pattern all night without being able to figure out what I was supposed to do, and this video clarified it within a matter of minutes. Thank you!

I'm mixing and matching from different tutorials to bring together a doll and dress.. and just the right hair, I might add, for "Elsa" It's proving to be a challenge but your video makes me excited to get a nice face started. So happy i found you. Perfect step by step. Thanks again 💕👏 I'll be checking out more of your videos😁

Thank you for this helpful video!! Can you make another one explaining how to shape cheeks on the dolls head giving them a chubby smiley look and a cute little pinched chin
@StitchesnScraps9 ай бұрын
Maybe one day :) I don't make a lot of dolls though. In the meantime, the theory is the same for wherever you want to shape - if you want it to go in, sew into it and pull it tight (like the eyes). If you want it to stick out, sew around/across it from underneath and pull it tight to pinch it up (like the nose). So if you created a depression for the mouth with a few small, tight stitches pulled inwards, it would puff the cheeks out a bit. You could also add dimples with a small stitch on each cheek.

@StitchesnScraps Жыл бұрын
yes you could :) Just sew in (like for the eyes) where you want to pull the fabric in, and sew across (like for the nose) where you want to pinch the fabric up.

Question, how would you put like eyes that like washers in? Do you do that first then your technique?
@StitchesnScraps3 жыл бұрын
That's a great question! I never actually use those and had to think about it. You would need to leave an opening / not fully finish the crochet, stuff it so you could do your needle sculpting, place your eyes (pushing the stuffing out of the way as needed), then finish crocheting the piece. Here's a video I found using safety eyes with needle sculpting. kzbin.info/www/bejne/h321m2CGiq2GeKc

Amazing...how can i do a small chin? Got a picture of a doll I want to make. Let me know where to send you the pic to get some advise from you on sculpting the doll face. Pleasee
@StitchesnScraps6 жыл бұрын
Basically, find the low spots - the places that you want to indent, and sew through those places. When you pull on the stitch, it will draw those points in, just like for the eyes in this video. If you have places you want to raise, sew across them so they get pinched together, like the nose. It may take some trial and error, but those two concepts combined should work for just about any shape :) Feel free to reach out to me on my facebook page if you have any questions. facebook.com/StitchesnScraps/

How about how to indent a mouth??
@StitchesnScraps Жыл бұрын
I haven’t done one myself, but it’s the same general concept. Wherever you put the stitches and pull tightly, it will make an indent. So you can play with placement to get whatever shape you’re trying to create.

What about a mouth??
@StitchesnScraps Жыл бұрын
For this pattern I did not indent the mouth - it didn't need it. But if you want to, the same principals would apply. Where you want to indent the fabric, sew a stitch and then pull it down tightly (like the eyes). Where you want to make a raised ridge, sew stitches across the ridge at the back, and then pull them to raise the ridge up (like the nose).

I think pulling the eyes in makes dolls look pinched, old and tired. Not a young fresh cute look. This is one trend in amigurumi I can’t get into.
