Oh so nice. The possessive Lamia was just perfect in my opinion with you managing to convey the subtle "wrongness" beneath her chirpy, affable and loving nature. This intensity which bubbles to the surface showing the cracks of her sanity. And yet in the same stroke you make her so likeable, so sweet and bubbly that I *want* to see her win and slither off with her little human mate all lovey-dovey. Like I know she's a bit crazy but its the kind of crazy I can live with.

"Like I know she's a bit crazy but its the kind of crazy I can live with." And I thought I'd only have a volleyball for company! Score! This was wonderful. I really like this script and, please, do try to contain your surprise, I loved your take on it. I haven't heard your other Lamia audio (yet!) but I was expecting a voice more like you mentioned in your description, dominant and demanding, so this voice, so sweet and earnest, desperate but honest and forthright, truly was a surprise, and a very delightful one. I loved how the danger of Listener's situation was underplayed, but always present, in the face of her excitement and I loved how you managed to combine a kind of playful curiosity with a realistic survivors appraisal in her demeanour, which seems like a tricky balance but you make it (literally) sound so easy. Oh, and your delivery of that last line? Chills, honestly. My overall conclusion is that despite wolves, giant crabs, and the truly horrifying possibility of a poor Wi-Fi connection, being shipwrecked has never sounded so good. Thank you so much for sharing.
@VanillaVelvetAudio2 жыл бұрын
I for one am shocked, SHOCKED, to find you enjoying this audio! 😉 My normal voice is quite deep (and sort of tomboyish), so dommy/dangerous characters come pretty naturally to me. I could probably build a career out of just doing the villainous femme fatale thing, but I bore SO easily. Besides, I like a challenge and developing new skills! Since starting this channel, I'm happy to report my ability to do softer, sweeter characters has greatly improved, actually. 😁 I liked the more dangerous cut of this script too, of course! Being scary is tons of fun. But keeping things fresh and interesting for my audience is very important to me. Can't get too predictable! :3 I'm sure I'll release the other cut from the Velvet Vault someday (either on KZbin or Patreon if I ever get one off the ground!)

I think it is a testament to your talent and hard work that I would have not been able to guess which of your audios was closest to your natural voice - they all sound so real and so authentic, if you know what I mean? I think that shows real dedication to your craft, and, as a fan, I really appreciate your range and diversity, both vocally and performance wise. Thank you! It does mean a lot, promise! re:sequels: I have indeed thought about it! There are a lot of audios I've done that I think could expand into series. Buuuut I use public scripts by other writers, and many don't have sequels currently and may never get any, so I'm not exactly in charge of whether they continue or not. (I could contact some writers to ask if I could continue the series myself or perhaps commission them to write sequels, of course, but I haven't undertaken that yet.) For reference, here's a short list of the audios I've done that currently have sequel scripts: - Cuddling With a Perky, Curious Wolf Girl - Serving a Rich, Bossy Lamia - Cute, Clumsy, Ditzy Giantess Takes You In - Dominant Evil Queen Makes You Her Advisor - Tough, Bold Orc Girl Flirts With You - Haughty Dominant Vampire Captures and Turns You Those are the only scripts I've done with sequels right now. So, if/when I dive into recording sequels, likely those will be the storylines to continue--barring getting permission to write some myself or commissioning the writers.

Who wrote this? This is so clever! And the voice acting is top notch! Also this really helped me realize how little I know about wilderness survival. Like how would I make a spear to go hunting? How do I sharpen a rock? How do i attach it to a stick, how do I find one log enough? How do I make rope? Weave grass? How do I start domesticating plant life/planting? How would I create a rain catcher, what about fire? A stick and rope right? Could vines work? Because i still don't know how to make rope and if it is an effort in weaving it's probably going to take awhile... Oof I'd be so dead. I'd definitely want a friendly super predator like this lamia on my side lol

This script was written by the magnificent Yan-con over on the ASMR script haven reddit! I do a lot of his scripts, actually. They're some of the best out there, no doubt! And I know what you mean. I love playing survival games personally, and the genre has really made me come to terms with how utterly screwed I'd be in a wilderness survival situation. Like, even if you DO manage to survive for awhile, there's all kinds of crap that can kill you. Rabbit starvation! Infections from minor cuts! Falls! Just plain old exposure from the temperature dropping a few degrees too low for your shelter! Horrifying.

💙😊 as you cling to me and ask for consent I am charmed by your accent and I feel sad for your loneliness I do hope you are fine with me being a homeliness "Sorry if I am late and yea... I am aware for being insecure... anyway, nothing to worry have a lovely day"

This was so cute! Thank you! I really appreciate the work you put into it and I think rhyming "loneliness" with "a homeliness" is hilarious. I hope your day is going great! And if not, I hope it gets better. 💖🥰

Every time I hear her tail rattle it sounds like soda soda fizzing

Ha! I can sort of hear that! That would make an interesting sound to layer into snake-y sound design, I bet.

I'mm just wondering what she means by 'behave yourself'.
@VanillaVelvetAudio2 жыл бұрын
I assume it means something along the lines of "Don't do anything that makes me think of you as a meal rather than a mate." So the listener smothering themselves in barbecue sauce and suchlike is clearly out.

I don't know why... But the last phrase "Do you feel safe?", It just hit me in a very pleasant way :v

Aw I’m happy to hear that! I tried to deliver that is a slightly deeper tone so I’m glad it landed right. ☺️

A yandere lamia to give me all sorts of cuddles. And she can restrain me with venom, or hypnosis, or her tail, or all 3 at once

Whew. That was indeed something. Good audio! Though so far in both your lamia audios you made them sound as if they were either a rattlesnake or a medusa with snake hair, and if none of these is true then where is the hissing sound coming from while she talks cause likely not out of her face. --Just a detail I'm wondering-- I wouldn't say no to her, I'd just ask for a bit of time to get used to the situation as she basically body slams you with her entire being immediately after waking up, intensifying the shock. It could work out tho.

So, about the SFX! One of the biggest (and enjoyable!) challenges in crafting sound design in my audios is figuring out ways to set a specific mood for different characters and scenarios. I've found that requires taking creative liberties that stray from strict realism. A snake's slither is very quiet, so you can't really realistically replicate that element in a satisfactory way to build the soundscape. And while you COULD emphasize the sibilants in every word of a performance (the "s" sounds, that is), that results in very crispy, sharp and unpleasant audio. But then you're in this weird position where if you don't add an otherworldly sound element to a lamia, she doesn't sound like a lamia, she just sounds like some girl talking. I feel that takes away from building the scene, you know? So you've got to find a creative solution for that, but it's challenging. It's a balancing act. That's why my lamias both use a layering of rainsticks (with a couple other elements) for the sound of scales/slithering because you want to evoke something "snake-y" but not a straight-up rattler or just hissing every word. Indicating that a snake lady is moving in a way that "reads" as snake-like using just audio is tough! 😆

I see, that explains it. Sorry for being dumb
@VanillaVelvetAudio2 жыл бұрын
Oh, don't apologize! You're not dumb at all! 🤗 This is exactly the kind of thing I certainly didn't think about before I started producing audio. I'm the kind of person who'd have also been like "Why does she sound like that??? Where is that coming from?!" so I sympathize. Sorry for sounding like a lecture! I'm just excited to share my process behind the scenes lol Like I said, finding solutions to make interesting sound design is a challenging but fun element of making audio, because it's as much about feeling as it is about actual sound. I love it on the whole, even if doing the actual work gets me tearing my hair out sometimes when I can't make something feel "right."

@@VanillaVelvetAudio Hehe. Now I feel dumb because I never questioned why or how the snake girl was making those sounds. xD I just accepted that was how snake girls would sound if I ever met one in real life. As opposed to the sounds I would make which would mostly consist of screaming followed by fainting.
