When you cosign for someone that means if they can't pay you need to pay as they are using your credit and income to qualify. If they cannot afford it and need cosign that means they cannot pay. They should not buy anything if they cannot afford. Please understand.

If anyone asks to borrow $5k from me, I would say “I was going to ask you for $5k because I need it too.” Never put your family in the debtor/creditor position. It strains relationships. OMG...the story here exactly 💯 like the story my life. My so called husband scammed me over 400K, my sister borrowed my money around 100K and my borrowed my money over 100K and my ex-husband took more than half of my life savings. Enough is enough. I also learned my lesson too. We are those who has soft, loving and always giving hearts. We have to learn to say NO even if its our own kids. If you can give away then do it, if not then do not lend/borrow.

I don’t even want to co-sign for my own children. I can’t trust anyone with my credit. If the bank don’t qualify them for a loan, what makes you think that they’re going to be able to pay for the loan? You can’t help and feel sorry for everybody in need. Whether it b pitching in for life ins for parents or lending money. If they cant except what u offer n want more than 5k, nope. DO NOT co-sign or loan money to anyone (other than your spouse). Especially if they do not qualify through a bank. You will only be setting them up for failure. There is a simple mathematical system that assess the risk and if the bank denies the loan, they’ve already calculated that the person cannot pay them back. They look at work history, income, credit score, current bills/loans, etc. It’s not about being siab pem or siab zoo. It’s about being smart and assessing the risk. This could’ve been avoided.

I will never loan any money to anyone. I don't care if they get made. I don't trust anyone. People who comes to borrow money from you they didn't want to use their money but to borrow you and never want to pay back. Once your money out of your hand it will not come back. Tell them to go the the bank. Bank has lots of money.

Yup cosigned for a family for a house with the promise to refinance after a couple years. We now on year 4, no refinance. Never again. If you cant be responsible to have decent credit, dont bet on siblings. If you cant pass the credit/income screening that means you cant afford it.

I have a brother-in-law who used to ask us to help co-sign this and that for them and I always tell my spouse no because the way my BIL and his wife live their lives I don’t trust them and I’m glad we never co-signed for him. They disliked us but I didn’t care because I know how they are. To this day they can’t even provide a shelter for their family. Their children are the ones who have to provide shelter for them. Sad but not our problem. I’m happy we told them we had way too many debts. Sometimes you have to just say no or make up excuses not to co-signs anything for siblings. 🤷
