Bar swapping would be fine if latency wasn't such a huge issue for Aus/NZ and similar ping players. As it stands, dying cos your bar won't swap in a high pressure fight is a major pain. You *can* work around it by being extremely predictive around opponents, but they'll always have a huge advantage when they don't have 250 minimum ping.

I have shoulder/arm problems and i usually just did tanking/healing because it hurt less than dpsing but right now I can actually x up as dps more often since it doesn't hurt my shoulders as much. I even use a vertical mouse if that gives you an idea lol. If they nerf the HA builds rn I'll be sad because it's never been semi-close to keeping up with the others in raids but now it is.

It was Hack's one bar Infinity Sorc and Bear Warden that really got me going in ESO. I had no idea how to play the game back then and the simplicity and fun of play of his builds made the difference. Best community ever! PS: I never knew minotaurs were so tiny!

i would love a year where they don't make a new area but overhaul an old one, updating the architecture of the buildings, the textures of the zone, the enemies and the bosses. start with the starting faction areas and move through the zones updating them so that the whole game can look as good as skyrim/high isle/blackwood/elswyr. The next weapon i would love to see is either one handed fire/frost/shock wands for magic to give abilities two elements at once or a two handed magic spellbook that has you casting spells from like some of the new archanist abilities.

On the note of "revitalization" of overland zones. I have found I really like an idea Bungie does with thier local zone instances in Destiny 2. Every day a different "lost sector" becomes special. It has a daily mission, bonus rewards, and harder difficulty. You can run solo or with small group. ESO could use a similar idea to make Public Dungeons, Delves, or World Bosses in old non DLC zones have relevant activities. And it doesnt add too much to game. Might even be a great way to reward Gold Companion gear!!

Controller is deff tough, i switched to Elite Series 2 controller and that helped alot having the back paddles for synergies and such

They could also give us more Seals Of Endeavours for in tame Achievements associated with specific content like veteran dungeons. This is seen in how Fallout 76 works with thier similar system. It would bring us closer to bridging the gap between in game rewards vs crown store.

I really dislike that the same basic 3 sets are meta for every build....the different classes are almost meaningless...since they dont have specialized stuff anymore.

I dont think they will sell hardmode overland as a standalone feature: “pay for the game you already paid for to play the same thing, but harder!” That wouldnt go over well at all. So, I think it will either he a base game feature for the chapter, or a base game feature for the q3 patch. If it happens, this seems the likely way it will happen.

I’m going to nitpick Hack a little about his comments about when people ask the dps of his builds. Dps is an important aspect of a solo build, hopefully we can all agree on that. I also don’t think that just because a build can finish VmA or kill a world boss, that makes it a good build. That more so speaks to the player’s knowledge of the content. You can finish VMA with no armor on for example. There’s also nothing wrong with making a build with crappy dps just for fun, but the build should be labeled that way.

I do enjoy Hack's content, but I have to say i never used one of his builds (although I think they are very clever). I think the point he makes is that he doesnt go for parse builds and stuff you would use vet HM trails. The requirements for those a very specific, a parse build needs no survivability as all you need is maximum dps. A vet HM trail build also needs the highest dps you can get while still providing utility and survive (a dead dps has no dps). What Hack is going for a lot of the time is solo builds and here you even need more survivability and you will sacrifices some dps for that. I think for example for solo stuff, Harpooner Wardening Kilt is not a great mythic, since you will be hit and thereby dont take advantage of its crit percs, while it is great for parsing and some group encounters. Dps is also import in solo stuff, but you will have to sacrifice some dps anyway. Also I don't remember him labeling his builds a the meta dps approach you would use in endgame raiding, he quite open about them being mostly for solo stuff and fun.

I think something that needs to be talked about is just how poor ZOS is at balancing their game. While it’s true that endgame meta builds will always find what performs the absolute best, if you balance your game more frequently with smaller changes, players wouldn’t feel forced into meta builds. For example, I believe I read somewhere in a guide (it may have been skinny), but dual daggers front bar is about 9% higher dps than a destro staff. That’s too high. If the gap was closer to 5% or 1%, I really don’t think anyone would care as much. Proof of this right now.. back bar weapons are actually very balanced right now. I think two hand back bar is very slightly ahead of staff, but not much, and staff isn’t very far ahead of bow. I think there is less than a 2k dps difference. THAT is what gives players freedom to build how they want.

In terms of switching peripherals, as someone who does it often and tests old relics or new strange tech to see if they are better than my current options: Give yourself 1-2 weeks of use to see if you like it, if there's discomfort stop immediately and be honest/careful. For binding and button association the way I do it is spatial/imaginative. I associate actions in the game with relative irl motions required for control actuation, rather than associating exact buttons with abilities. My abilities in my mind are not 12345, they are left of my hand, above, right, below, or on my mouse. Spatial, not symbol oriented. So if an irl input involves an upwards motion or the key is higher up I will bind it to an in-game action which has an animation that fits or makes sense to my brain. So utility abilities match certain fingers, I map out everything so the keys pressed the most are the easiest to reach and actuate with the least amount of effort possible. It will be more difficult at first, but I recommend drastic rebinding to the same degree that you would tweak your Video settings. ZOS gave you the tools to nearly perfectly personalize your binds and unless you're a pro/top 0.000001% leaderboard pushing parser, drastic changes and experimentation should not truly wreck your muscle memory. Not in any way that actually matters longer than a few weeks, imo. If you're getting pain/fatigue with your current setup, I would advise throwing your leaderboard out the window until you have a setup you're comfortable with. It's probably how you ended up here with the rest of us, searching for less pain while playing. Or like me, buying 20 year old tech off ebay to see if it's better for my ergonomics. Obviously the best thing is to not play when in pain/take breaks.

ESO definitely doesn't do a good job of teaching new players how to play the game. The switch from overland to basically anything else is pretty painful. I didn't really remember how painful until I got a couple new people into the game and watched them struggle when I took them into a vet dungeon. They were asking me if we were doing hard mode or something and I had to say no this is kind of mid level stuff. They were very deflated afterwards and didn't play for a few days.

GTA5 Online cut off thier game at a certain point to allow next gen console growth. They kept the old school servers running, but no new content. ESO is plenty big enough to support this idea without limiting new players from access to more content than they can handle at once.

Also bar swaping is a pain in the arse on a default controller. I am lucky and have an elite s2 and have a paddle for swapping, a paddle for potions, a paddle for mount, and a paddle for A. Screw playing with a default that would suck ballz so much hand movement and no way to make your own bindings. Also controller I have a carpal boss that a tendon has to painfully jump over if I move my wrist while playing so controller has its own issues as well depending.
