in 2015 i was seriously considering taking a cat from shelter and give him a new home. I've constantly exchanged mails with shelter's volunteer to decide whether i'll be good home for this cat. I was living in rather unpleasant conditions, lots of space but expensive to warm, working 9-19. She said that cats are tought mofos and whichever i choose, he'll be happy. I remember listening to Secret Window on repeat while writing these mails. I remember also that when song breaks its climax, i've found THAT cat. He was obese at the time, sitting in isolation room due to FIV +. He was sheltered October 2014, i've took him home at 2015's November. No one wanted him as he looked like punk, with torn ear, probably due to some street fight, also not having as sweet face look as other cats. He was just tired with this misery and was slowly fading. I've bet all i've had on him. He was a good friend over these years, even when diabetes kicked in, when kidneys started to fail, even when he missed litterbox. He always yelled when he missed litterbox :D I've decided to put him down on end of 2023's May. Kidneys won't heal and prolonged tretaing would be a misery for all of us. On that last evening we went to veterinary clinic to receive IV drip. He was weak and apathic due to metabolites not being filtered out by kidneys. While receiving treatment, life got back to him. He realized that he's AGAIN at this horrible place where he never wanted to be, REFUSED to be here any longer (still with IV ongoing:D) and meowed at me "bro c'mon, let's go home to pet me as every evening". He was everything but sick at the moment. Doctor wasn't forcing me. She was ready to serve all treatments possible, i was ready to visit clinic daily to receive IVs, but when i asked her "will he ever recover", she said "never". Then i realized that i made this cat promise at the day of adoption. That i'll do my best to make him feel loved, wanted and appreciated AND when time comes to let him go, i'll will let him go with dignity and as painless as possible. I kept my word.
