Tomas Spasiuk I agree the photographer is an enthusiast and beginning to earn his living from his interest. The film also advertises people with similar small businesses which I very much approve of. I found the video interesting and accept even enthusiast need to earn a living. Recently I saw some 1940's Vogue images taken in New York. The picture are amazing but the original purpose was to sell those clothes, now I believe those image are art. Commerce and art have always gone hand on hand. If you want to see the Vogue pictures they are in the Museum of Photography Rotterdam Holland.

@kurtpleavin7 жыл бұрын
Dave G considering that Dickies play a somewhat integral role in all of these peoples lives, the shots don't at all reflect the individual nor their interests. They're just stock standard portraits on LF.
@skaterat3217 жыл бұрын
Kurt Pleavin yeah but the other subjects were in their workspaces. The barber even has his apron on with his tools. So you kinda get an idea of who they are/what they do.

Two questions: I might have missed it, but what color film did you end up using? There's not a ton of options out there for 8x10 cut film. Second question - how did you handle the metering? Did you just use incident metering, or did you take some extra steps given the limited number of frames to work with? I guess more generally, how did you deal with the lighting? I saw a few reflectors positioned here and there, but in some scenes it looked like the lighting was quite uneven - e.g. with Mr. Felix in his workshop the back lighting looks to have been quite a bit stronger than the doorway he was standing in. Great to see you trying out the 8x10 format, can't even imagine dealing with that as I am right now, 4x5 gives me enough trouble as it is.
@franz10687 жыл бұрын
looks like portra 400, but im not totally sure.
@RK-pl7vc7 жыл бұрын
It could be portra, ektar, or provia. Its not impossible to find some refrigerated older stock of cut films either. Just curious, because the skin tones look pretty even and accurate, though I don't know how much of that might be post-processing/color balancing.
@NegativeFeedback7 жыл бұрын
Portra 160 new stock for this shoot. Everything was shot with natural light and we did have a reflector but it didn't make a huge difference. Luckily portra has a wide latitude so the dynamic scenes such as with felix coped quite well
@Ad-eq3cu7 жыл бұрын

I like Carhartt more than Dickies. Their B01 pant is my favorite work pant and street wear pant if I'm leaning on shooting with my XA and carrying a few rolls of Tri-X. Dickies are too low rise for my taste and there's not enough room to carry everything comfortably, IMO. Still, it's great that a huge brand is calling you for photographs. I'd consider that a huge step forward
