Other than building gardens, there's nothing I enjoy more than wandering around well planted cities looking for cool plants...please continue these walking tour videos. Since you and Steph scouted out a lot of the coolest plants during Covid, you should go back and highlight the best of them when they are in bloom, fall color, or whenever they're at their best. I can't do much walking anymore due to health issues, so I really enjoy "tagging along".

I love the neighborhood tours! We just had 5 Crepe Myrtles taken out this week that were planted directly beneath the power lines 🤦🏼♀️. They were full of rot and ants. I'm so happy to have them gone!!! The squirrels seem to be missing them a bit, but we are giving them some Arizona Cypress and Korean Pine as replacements (further in so they won't hit the power lines, of course!).

You're right about underselling the tea camellia flowers! Pictures will never do it justice, but if you're able to see it for your self its the view of a lifetime. In the Yunan mountains in china there are these massive 500+ year old tea camellias with fantastic contorted structure from literally centuries of monsoons and droughts alike and when they're in full bloom its like a sea of white and yellow throughout the mountains its the most of the most magical views in the world. I highly recommend everyone get to see that natural wonder at least once in their lives. My favorite spot is the hike up snow mountain. Up there you can see multiple tea camellias that are over 2,800 years old! I will say however it does get pretty crowded up there when they're in bloom. I mean china does have over a billion and a half people living there so makes sense there'd be a lot of tourists lmao

Why has my rosemary plant never bloomed? It is planted in a hot corner, near the driveway + sidewalk corner. However it's a low corner, where water pools and stays moist far longer than the rest. I'm in St George Utah, Zone 8b. There are terrible drainage issues, low areas of collection. Half the home structure sits in a low spot. Including the rosemary plant.

Poncirus trifoliata vs Maclura pomifera - both called Osage Orange. First from china, latter a native. Correct?
@RootyToot1239 ай бұрын
This is interesting how these “oranges” can be confusing. Osage orange (Maclura pomifera) is not an orange but part of the mulberry group, Flying dragon (Citrus trifoliata or Poncirus trifoliata)is an orange called a hardy orange, then there is the Seville orange (Citrus aurantium) which is also an orange & bitter & makes great marmalade. So, we have 2 oranges & a latex filled Osage orange. Confusing if you call them all Osage oranges. For those that got confused. 😂
