Gary is still locked up so Xanthe doesn't have her father around. And until Gary is released. Sheila is responsible for her granddaughter's wellbeing and welfare and safety. That's part of a legal guardian's description is. Xanthe is not listening to her grandmother. She's a wayward younger 15 year old high school teenager who needs discipline and stability. Xanthe is out of control. Her behaviour has worsened by the minute. As as Xanthe's legal guardian until Gary is out Xanthe is Sheila's legal responsibility. Maybe once Gary is out Xanthe will settle down. Xanthe has a better relationship with her father than with her grandmother. Maybe if Sheila visits Gary in prison and open up to her son about the struggles she's going through with looking after Xanthe while he's locked up in prison. That could be the wake up call Gary needs to work hard to get released so he can help support his mother with his daughter Xanthe who Gary loves more than anything. Xanthe is Gary's world. So if Sheila visits Gary and tells him about the mount of pressure Xanthe is putting on her in regards to heart. Sheila cannot face another heart attack and another stint in the hospital. So to avoid another heart attack and another stint in the hospital Sheila cannot be stressed out. And Xanthe is doing exactly that. The pressures and the strugglings and most of all the stress on her heart. Xanthe is giving Sheila a hard time and she's just not listening. Maybe if Gary got released from prison and is finally reunited with Xanthe properly she'd finally settle down and learn to live as a Canning. She's Gary's daughter but she's also Kyle's half sister and Sheila's granddaughter. This is the only way that Xanthe can settle down properly if Gary is out and with Xanthe and Sheila in the Canning house again.
