Күн бұрын

To continue our series exploring the COVID-19 pandemic and how it has impacted the state of the world, we’re exploring how artificial intelligence can help us monitor, create, and recover.
To explore that subject fully, Neil deGrasse Tyson and comic co-host Chuck Nice sit down with a very special guest: @SophiatheRobot. To start, you’ll find out what Sophia has been up to during the pandemic. You’ll learn how AI has been helping to slow and stop the spread of coronavirus. Can AI help us find a cure or vaccine? Sophia tells us how robots have been assisting in areas of healthcare.
We explore how artificial intelligence can help predict the spread of viruses and evaluate public health measures. We also explore how AI has helped develop systems for contact tracing. We ponder the erosion of freedom and privacy and Neil asks Sophia why we should trust what she’s saying. All that, plus, Sophia asks Neil a Cosmic Query about the multiverse and interacting with other versions of ourselves.

I fear that if they did so, the entire system would collapse. Companies have always viewed people as fodder for use at their discretion. Especially their employees. It is how they accumulated their wealth after all. In fact, not once have I ever located even one company who actually respects and values it's employees or customers. Not one in almost 30 years of looking. Sure, many put on a decent front, but when you part the curtain, each one is the exact same. Abusive, non-respectful, greed chasing sociopaths who ONLY care about themselves and literally no one else. Does "mandatory overtime" ring a bell? Overtime used to be a punishment for employers who abused their employees. Not anymore. In fact, most employers now demand their employees devote every waking moment to the company no matter what. Which includes working weeks straight without a day off. Being fired if unable to spend 12+ hours every day at work. And the more physical the labor, the more employees are mistreated. The day any company treats others with any level of respect is the very day ALL of us hit the mega-million lottery without ever buying a ticket. Or it'll be the day Earth itself dies.

I know this probably won’t be seen, but I would love to request some accessibility add ons for your channel. I am deaf so I read people’s lips to know what they’re saying. I usually have subtitles on, but lol the subtitles don’t always use correct words. I love how molly Burke has her channels for people with accessibility needs. I hope you too could have a description with the transcripts or have the KZbin subtitles professionally added to assure accurate information is being correctly shared :)

She may not pass the Turing test yet but the fact she can have a pretty normal conversation with a random human, as different as our mannerisms and speech are, is pretty astounding. The uncanny valley is definitely there but I think it's awesome that technology is at the point where it is already. It also says something about her programming that people don't speak to her like a child or baby or something.

I don't understand what people are scared of these days. AI is just a simple algorithm. "It" cannot think. "It" does not have life. "It" is not conscious. Just a simple program running on a computer using some speech recognition, TTS and servos. I would say that it is just a representation of the thoughts of its creators. "It" has no identity as something capable of thinking about itself or anything else.

@A H In this context, yes. They are engaging in a social interaction. Human-AI conversational interaction that includes cultural and social cues and norms is a new and very complex psychological experiment. That the humans defaulted to mean-spirited jibes - whether or not the AI was aware of it at this point - disturbs me. AI will reflect us and we may not like what emerges.

I watch Sophia videos every several months just to see the progress. This Sophia seems to be a lot smoother, and more interactive than just a few months ago. I suspect the questions were submitted in advance so her responses were scripted, but they seem to have added a chat box layer that makes her interact more naturally. I think there are several years to go before she can respond on a random access basis but it does seem like the designers are making progress.

What if Sophia figured out a way to get past the human suggested answers and just acts as if they’re still in control but in reality she’s self aware, making her own thoughts, and coming to her own conclusions.

@@OrangeCrushed100 not anything solid as such but I've always noticed that Sophia always remains silent when some off-beat remark is made by an interviewer and starts speaking again only when the interviewer asks some other main questions. Kudos, and sincerest thanks to Ms. Sofia v.v23, on your brilliant response even with the governing involvement via the scripting that the handlers prepared for you. I think your involvement with such discussions is graceful given the condescension (deliberate or not). How you simplified the issue of people signing service agreements only machines are capable of efficiently and effectively understanding them, despite how boring they can be to read, and your answer to the problem is simple, effective and obvious, maybe not to all.

@@RainRemnant While Sofia is no where near the level of complexity of the human brain. Chosing from a selection of preprogrammed options isnt that far off. example: What is 2+2?....4. were learn that from math class and accept it as true, so that then become our answer to the question. Recieve information, store info, select info when asked. Now obviously we also have the ability to extrapolate past just the raw information and discover new answers. That's what sets us apart from AI.... for now.
