Neil D. is absolutley one of a kind, there will never be another like him. And Jay Leno....a class act, Him and Johnny were the best on late night TV.

I'm really sad I missed this. He is a class act all the time. To think in the 60s he was so shy there were no published pics of him. Not until Hot August nite there abts.

I'm 64. I remember hearing Solitary Man in 1966. That would make me 11 at the time. I thought he was kind of country a little bit. Over time, other of his songs reinforced this sense that he was from the south. Kentucky Woman, Brother Loves Traveling Show, Sweet Caroline... Now all these years later, I'm for the first time hearing him speak, and to my ears he has this Jewish New York accent. Cracks me up. I really didn't know he was Jewish. And Diamond is his real birth name.

I always thought he was a Country/Western singer when I was growing up. 'Kentucky Woman', 'Thank The Lord For The Night Time', 'Girl, You'll Be A Woman Soon', sounded very country to me.

Can't believe he wasn't cast in Sopranos...he would have been brilliant. Pure class with an undercurrent of darkness...and naturally very very funny in a New York way. Great interview.

What a gentleman, for me it would intimidating to talk to someone like Neil Diamond anthough I know he is a down to earth person. He is a musical genius from Brooklyn just like Gershwin was.

Neil Diamond was in 1977, four days on Tour in Netherland.there were problems with the Hammond organ (110 Volt America-Europe 220 Volt) I'm approached by Lou van Rees Management for a solution to my Hammond Rent. After four days I got my B3 Hammond returned with Fire Burn spots of Cigarettes. It frustrated me.They have me removed me from the Neil Diamond Fan Club because I had this listed on their site.Never Apology of Neil Diamond ;-(

I've never under stood Neil diamond appeal every one of his songs sounds the same the lyrics are drivel thee diction sounds as English is a second language. And what does crackling. Rose you're a store bought woman mean? Was she a love doll?

His lyrics are more like stream of consciousness, like many of those by Paul Simon, as opposed to good storytelling. Both NYC Jewish boys from roughly same time period. He keeps his music simple harmonically, and trades rather on the interesting richness of his voice combined with his graceful stage presence. He was a member of the NCAA champion NYU fencing team, always was light on his feet, and he knows how to dance in ways that subtly entice females.
