In browsing one of the streaming music sites, I came across this song that I heard for the first time. In spite of the extensive collection that I have of Neil's music, somehow I missed some of the most profound lyrics of all that he has written. This goes right to the heart! Apparently Into his 70's, in an intro to the song at a live performance he said, "I FINALLY, I think, found the truth and the meaning of love." Some of us may have had the opportunity to learn the art of love at sometime in our journey of life when we were younger - Neil's lines were "I know I'm on a journey I won't forget ... I know I had it in me to give and yet I never could." Poignantly, some of us never did learn the art of love - to receive it and to share ... perhaps it "finally" can become a reality, even now after all the missed opportunities.

Life teaches us all lessons and most of us learn them the hard way. It appears that Neil has. Unofficial bios record some not-to-pleasant episodes but then we all have those, don't we? The secret is to learn from them and try to be a better person in spite of them. It's an on-going process which Neil is singing about. If we are lucky (and Neil has been very lucky along with being very talented), we get the chance to get it right. I hope Neil and Katie have many good years in front of them.
