Three songs in to the concert … and Neil is just getting warmed-up and into his, unmatched stride. One of his great track’s from, perhaps, his finest studio album …’ Serenade ‘; in truth they all were. Our first time hearing in the ‘in-concert’ setting of the magical playing and contribution of the truly great - King Ericsson . His conga and percussive playing was a the leif motive sound of ‘ The Neil Diamond Band ‘ from January 1976 until Neil’s last concert’s finishing here in the U.K., in October 2017. King Ericsson and the late, great Vince Charles - another stalwart of “ The greatest band in the land “ - to quote Neil were both such wonderfully perfect fit’s both musically and personably … Neil is not nothing / was not nothing if not entirely an ‘ e x c e l l a n c e as our standard ‘ musician, performer - and ‘ team leader ‘. Very, very few left his employ - over four-plus decades .
