The biggest truth teller ! Neil has kept me sane in a world that wants to stay blind. Ignorance is bliss .. all that says is am not clever enough or to lazy to source information.. sad world we live in
@okrookra6542 Жыл бұрын
Ignorance yields bliss...while knowledge yields despair. You can type the information right out in front of them. The problem is processing the information. The truth is so contrary to the story being told by the hierarchy. People don't know what to think. Average people shut down critical thinking when there is chaos, and conflicting information always leads to chaos.

Very interesting and thank you. Londons Fleet Street, Temple Bar and St Brides Church have links to Ireland:- - In Dublin City Centre, there is also a Fleet Street, which leads on to a Temple Bar. - St Brides Church in London is said to be named after St Bridget, Irelands female patron Saint. With the Church in London said to have been founded by Irish Monks.

I worked in Fleet Street for Reuters in the 1980's and it was amazing fun. I was in my early 20's having come up from Brighton and working for the Evening Argus and there were so many amazing people there and an amazing vibe. As soon as the pubs opened the offices emptied out and people went them to gossip and share stories. I had a girlfriend Sylvie, a French girl who was one of Robert Maxwells secretaries and oh boy the stories I heard about him. I then got a job with a Japanese Bank in the City and had the rest of the 80's there. I think I experienced the best two business communities in London. Fleet Street and the City.

After graduation in 1969, I went down to a friend’s wedding being held slap bang in the City of London (when it was much more civilised). I stayed in digs in, of all places, Harrow, and travelled in by train/tube. The highlight of my visit wasn’t the wedding (!!!), it was visiting the pubs in Fleet Street. I’m sure well known people were there, but I didn’t know who they were. Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese stood out particularly, as an atmospheric place (in more ways than one with everybody smoking) and I could see why journalists would want to have returned there to ‘recharge’. Sadly, the phrenetic activity would seem to be no more - just tourists - and the London I knew is no more, so I’ll give it a miss!!

LOL….When I learned typing in school, I never thought I was learning a real skill or a trade. But in this era of the internet it has held me in good stead where, like Neil, I can type faster than I can speak. My sympathies to those who still hunt and peck with one or two fingers….how frustrating it must be to slow your thoughts down, so that they are in time with your typing…..

Unfortunately, you can't trust what used to be a national newspaper or channel on TV anymore, Neil, the A.B.C. in Australia is full of activists instead of non-biased journalists, it makes my heart break. So many people cry out for decent journalism and where do we find it?? Thank you for the podcast, very interesting.

Thanks Neil. I dont think this topic receives enough consideration as a huge reason why so many are confused, divided, and often grossly ignorant of world history and the present state of affairs we find ourselves in. And this deluge of information is certainly a useful and, likely deliberate, tactic imposed from the top. All this results in a global conversation that has melted into a homogenous incoherent static, and rendered completely illegible.

i worked with an ex- type setter. As a worker they had suspicions about why the union rep had more pay envelopes than people in the dept. But it all went tits up at his paper when a new girl in the accounts couldn't get hold of anyone to collect a sections pay envelopes. Rep on hols and mate suddenly seriously ill, so no one covering. Finally she took it on herself to distribute and went about asking for the workers to give the envelopes to. Over half the envelopes were for people who had left years ago or no one had ever heard of. The corruption was from union reps to management. Also, the journalist had ridicules expense accounts.

Neil...you and I share much but I must add that the job of the historians- the "rememberers" may soon be the most important.
