@Exotic_Tofu10 жыл бұрын

@alecl943010 жыл бұрын
Exotic.Tofu True. Here's what I have to say to that. Neil is undoubtedly, one of the 5 greatest drummers (of any style) ever. Greatest. Not best. Greatness in terms of influence, impact, innovation, longevity, relevance, skill, and ability to further the advancement of drums and drum education for future generations. That is my formula for greatness. Buddy, Bonham, Peart, Roach, and probably Tony Williams are (to me) the 5 GREATEST drummers of all time, with Cobham, Krupa, and probably Weckl and Gadd close behind. But that does not make Neil the best or even one of the best drummers ever in terms of skill. Cobham, Donati, Weckl, Smith, Rich, Mangini, Krupa, Chambers, Bozzio, Phillips, Palmer, Lang, Williams, Colaiuta, Acuna, Bruford, and Jojo Mayer instantly come to mind as drummers who (skill wise) are better than Peart. But only a handful of them come close to his greatness. Just my 2 cents. I'm interested to hear your thoughts on that issue
@benvankoningsveld10 жыл бұрын
Exotic.Tofu It probably annoys Neil more than it does you! He has always been very open about never being totally satisfied with his drumming. Most drummers will tell you the same thing.

Ben van Koningsveld So true, as if the world isn't large enough to have more than one all time great at whatever. It makes for fun conversation at times to debate who's number 1, but in the end you have to realize how insignificant that argument is in the grand scheme of life. Like you, I'm betting that Neil Peart, like most anyone walking the earth, could careless who he's compared to and would prefer to be viewed as an individual.
