Neil Winskill is a former Newcastle United apprentice who, after a career in teaching, returned to the club as a coach. He is now lead coach for the Under-18 team.
In a full training session delivered exclusively for CV Academy, Neil took his players through a series of four practices designed to develop their protection of space and defensive shape after a loss of possession. In this excerpt from the first of those four practices, he uses a warm-up to introduce the topic of the session, focusing the players on reacting immediately and aggressively to losing possession.
