I recently moved into a house built in the 1930's for workers of the Hoover Dam in Boulder City, Nevada--the house went for sale after the place came up as a foreclosure. Chalk drawings from children still on the sidewalk driveways, pieces of toys in in the yard, neighbors tell tales of broken hearts when the folks had to leave...I play guitar, and nearly cry as I play this song on my porch--feeling a bit like an intruder who is ill-deserved of living in such a wonderful place.

My eyes leak a little each time I hear this version. I prefer it to the studio version. In fact, this version was the first one I heard. It's from a Jones Beach concert, I think.

Good version but missing the CSN harmonies and and the dream guitar part in the middle. Neil can't reach the high notes on the chorus like Crosby and Nash did on the studio version. Still really good.

I think I can help: Under communism, no "man from the bank" would ever come to take "this old house away". That's the good news. The bad news is, under communism, you will never get anything better than "this old house". Because communism was "built on dreams" too, and many times even on nightmares... :)
