Meeee!!! 👍 I had to be 5 yrs.old back in 1973 when I first heard Old Man on the radio when radio was and I instantly fell in love with the hold song….It was Mr. Young singing and the melody that I couldn’t erase from my little head back then…..I grew up appreciating all types of music from my parents and uncles….I’ve always had great taste in music….I should’ve went in the business 🤣 And now this song has more meaning to me….I lost my loving Dad 2yrs ago….I miss you Daddy 😢

@@chrishorst1318”old man take a look at my life im a lot like you were”. Although not necessarily about “dad” can really hit home. Just that line to me, thats me and my old man(old man is a common term for sons to call their dads, i.e. “my old man, blah blah blah”. Well, when my dad was my age he had 2 boys about my daughters age. He was a functional alcoholic, we had food and a home. We took small family vacations to my grandpas cabin. That is literally my life right now. Art is in the eye of the beholder, what it means to you or me or the artist or that 24 year old kid that started this comment thread may all be different but are all still valid, THATS WHAT ART IS!

It's really unfortunate. They were my biggest streams on Spotify. I hate to really say it, but Neil Young was being a bit of a hypocrite there. He built his career on counterculture and anti-government protest and then turns around and threatens a free speech platform for promoting free speech. I'm not going to pretend that COVID is not a touchy subject, but free speech is free speech, and Neil Young chose not to support it

Just chatting to a random old man who got out of his car and wanted to pet my dog. I said of course and his eyes lit up. He said he’d lost his wife and had border collies in the past(our dog is a collie) He wanted to give him a treat and looked in his car but couldn’t find any so I gave him one to give to our dog. Dog sat, wagged his tail and gave the old guy his paw. Think that made the old guys day and I thought of this song after leaving and carrying on…Neil Young captures the memories in a lot of his songs….been a fan for 50 years now and the songs never grow old like we do❤

Challenging for a beginner but it was something I wanted to play for my dad at 10 years old. Moved to college… got the call at 20 he passed. Came home and immediately went to the record room and played this album. For 2 months I played this album. Crying every damn time. Thank you Neil Young (even though you will never see this) It’s better to burn out, than to fade away.

Old man look at my life, I'm a lot like you were. Old man look at my life, I'm a lot like you were. Old man look at my life, Twenty four and there's so much more Live alone in a paradise That makes me think of two. Love lost, such a cost, Give me things that don't get lost. Like a coin that won't get tossed Rolling home to you. Old man take a look at my life I'm a lot like you I need someone to love me the whole day through Ah, one look in my eyes and you can tell that's true. Lullabies, look in your eyes, Run around the same old town. Doesn't mean that much to me To mean that much to you. I've been first and last Look at how the time goes past. But I'm all alone at last. Rolling home to you. Old man take a look at my life I'm a lot like you I need someone to love me the whole day through Ah, one look in my eyes and you can tell that's true. Old man look at my life, I'm a lot like you were. Old man look at my life, I'm a lot like you were.

I play this song while working in the barn here in New Mexico. Its beautiful. My grandmothers ranch. The red sunsets. This fire in the sky for miles. Horses running around. The sheep coming back into the corral. Blessed its my escape from the city life. A peace im so happy. To sit on the corral fence watching the sunset far into the desert/mesas and watching the sheep dogs playing with my nephews. How much i wanna protect them from the outside crazy world.

My dad died a year ago tomorrow, and I'm still waiting for the day when hearing his name makes me smile instead of cry. Like you, he was my best friend. The last night of his life I pushed his hospice bed and oxygen up to the tv and listened to music with him all night until he passed. He wasn't able to open his eyes or speak by that point, and he couldn't move his fingers, but I know he heard his favorite songs and me telling him over and over what an impact he had on my life and how much I was going to miss him. I miss him a ton.

I hate to write this.... but I want to be explicitly clear.... You are going to die, and the fact you have a reasonable expectation of when it will happen places you in the most advantageous position one can have because it removes the thought of I can do it tomorrow.. You don't have the time. You have to squeeze it all in now.... And if you want to get ganster follow my lead..... I felt it in my bones that I have cancer. I knew it for certain. So before I even mentioned it to a doctor, I took the largest insurance police anyone would give me. I got a 3 million term policy. It has to be in effect for 1 year before anyone can collect on it. THEN and only then I got checked out. They said I will go about 18 months or so. I told the doctor the absolute date I must remain alive to. I actually grabbed him by the collar and told him under no circumstances can I die before that date. He promised he can more than go beyond that date. All I care about is 1 week beyond that date and then I will gracefully bow out. I have not told anyone in my family yet. I dont want to saddle them with the burden. Since then I have placed my afairs in order. Removed my name from my home under the guise of a pending personal lawsuit, quietly re-registered my classic cars under my children names, got brand new unsecured credit cards, moved all my money to my wife accounts under the guise of the same lawsuit.....and have finally made progress on all the projects I have been trying to get to but never did. I have taken my daughter to Wicked, my son to a WWE match, my entire family to the Superbowl in Vegas all on credit. I will exit as the KING and a gangster of the 10th degree. My only real wish.... is that I could see their faces when they realize how I put it all into place to benefit them. Do what you can for you child. The world is a shitty place and the money helps it be a little less shitty. If you want find me on the other side. I am not sure how it works but I think I can buy you a drink once your there.
