That was great! Right on the money! I met George Benson at one of my gigs in 2007 at the Marriott Hotel in West Palm Beach. I happened to play that song and when I finished, he started dropping names. He told me that originally he was supposed to record that song. He told me Quincy Jones originally wanted him to sing that song "Just Once" but he was busy touring at the time. So, Quincy got James Ingram. The rest is history. I never knew that until that night.

Wow Jeff. What a great story. I can imagine George Benson singing that and I’m sure he would have done a great job… that being said, the song is perfect with James Ingram and it certainly became one of his best-known hits. I’ve always loved George Benson. I used to play his 20/20 album on repeat in the late 80’s.
