Fun Fact: The two men who were walking into Eros right in front of Miller this episode were Ty Frank and Daniel Abraham. The two co-authors of The Expanse book series.

Miller was heading to Eros because his old buddy Semi (who works police on Eros) told him that the Anubis' shuttle arrived there and still is there. It's the only lead Miller has left so that's where he goes. The Roci crew only decided to go to Eros after they found the Anubis (where the OPA signal came from that Fred Johnson picked up) and noticed that it's shuttle is missing. Only possible destination in range: Eros. The people who jumped the crew in the Blue Falcon were the black ops team activated by Erinwright to kill Holden when he arrived on Eros (Erinwright thought Holden was headed for Eros originally because that's the target that was logged for "the gas freighter" Rocinante when it left Tycho Station. Kenzo is the spy that Chrisjen used to keep track of Holden which is why he snuck on board when they left Tycho. Just before the crew enter the Blue Falcon, you can see Kenzo (in his HUD from his cybernetic eye) comunicating with the black ops team, basically telling them where Holden could be found. When they got to Eros he finally hat network access again that had been denied from him while on the Rocinante.

Kenzo was an Earther spy. The gunmen at the hotel were sent by Errinwright to "take holden off the board" when he got to Eros

Kenzo was the one who ratted them out to black ops team that came to kill Holden. Simi was in Orphan Black, a series I wish someone would cover.

The hatch that was broken from the inside is the one that Julie Mao came out of. The suit floating in the corridor is the same one that she saw in the first episode.

You got it figured out at the end there, and you’ve seen more episodes in the meantime but just to recap (no spoilers): - Julie Mao (codename Lionel Polanski) was on an OPA ship, the Scopuli, on a mission from Fred Johnson - the Scopuli was boarded by the stealth ship Anubis’ crew - Julie was locked up on the Anubis - the Anubis crew, whoever they are, use the Scopuli as bait, luring the Cant and destroying it - whatever the goo is, it apparently infests the Anubis - Julie breaks out, finding herself alone on the Anubis, sees the reactor, screams - Julie shuts down the Anubis, escapes on its shuttle (Anubis 1A), flies to Eros, and checks in as Lionel Polanski - The Roci finds the Anubis, destroys it, and heads to Eros - the crew meets Miller and finds Julie dead in her hotel room, goo-infested like the Anubis We don’t at present know who owns the stealth ships, what the goo is, or really what is going on, but at least those are the story beats so far

The official name of Eros is 433 Eros. It's an asteroid but it's not in the belt, but rather in the Amor group, which is distinguished by orbits that get close to but are still larger than Earth's orbit. They spend most or all of their time between Earth and Mars.

Love how they go against all usual tropes. They see something creepy and unexplained that *might* be really dangerous, and they leave without trying to 'research' it first. They don't take a sample, don't get others to look at it... just nuke it. That was so refreshingly common sense. :b

Hey already got a tee! Eros is an asteroid and the second largest near earth object. It was spun up to have gravity and make it habitable.

Why Eros? Because it's a Near-Earth asteroid, and one of the biggest of those, it would have been one of the first colonized asteroids. As such, its valuable resources might be largely depleted by now, its technology old and lacking, and its population poor. Someone said it's the asscrack of the solar system. That's why Anubis picked it as its target for whatever they planned to do.

Love you attention to details! It took a second bit you figured it out that the Anubis is the ship Julie was on in the pilot! Kenzo is the one who alerted the black ops team that Erinwright had ordered to take out Holden! Looking forward to the next one!

The beauty of this show is, you find things out as the characters do. You have the advantage of outside information, but still are just as in the dark about what is going on as the characters are. Everyone is trying to piece it together, including the viewer. they are showing it instead of spoon feeding it in exposition. This keeps the curiosity and tension going.

433 Eros is one of the five largest asteroids we have recorded after Ceres, Pallas, Vesta, and Hygeia, thus one that could be spun up to provide a habitat for a Belter population. Think of it as Marrakesh, of Dhubai.

The guys in the lobby shootout were the black ops team Errinwright activated last episode to take Holden out. Kenzo's eye camera had text saying that police would not respond. Yes, everything we saw in the pilot happened on the Anubis, but you'll find out more next episode. In fact, lots of answers are coming soon...as always, with more questions. It is so much fun hearing your theories formulating as we go by. You're going to enjoy watching them back a season or three from now.

Hitting the Anubis with a nuclear torpedo would instantly volatilize everything within a kilometer of the strike, breaking atomic bonds and reducing the ship and all of its contents to energetic atoms spinning out from the rock. The most effective method of sterilizing any biohazard.

the morman ship is 2.14km/1.33miles in length. and is 0.5 km wide (0.3miles) its large enough to create 1/3 earth gravity through spin gravity of rotation of its primary drum section.

Remember when we said that the first season was mostly just set-up? We're getting a little bit into the meat now, but it's still set-up. To put it into The Off-Menu Podcast terms, the first four episodes are the "still or sparkling water" course, 5-8 are the "PAPADAMS OR BREAD" course, and the end of this episode is the beginning of the starter course.

you've probably already got the answer to this, but for the sake of the algorithm of viewing, liking, and commenting: eros isn't part of the asteroid belt, which is between mars and jupiter. eros is a "near-earth object" and a "mars crosser," as well. its eccentric orbit crosses that of mars and may, at some point, cross earth's orbit. thank you. i'll see myself out. lol

If there was any doubt about how much the writers planned this story, Neil’s questions and comments at the end of this episode and the first 5 minutes of next episode are solid evidence.

In a way it was necessary to do the plot this way, but also in another way its a shame, because I think alot of people are turned off by the first season and the deliberately disorientating plot. I know sci fi fans who couldn't get through the first season and its such a shame they miss out on such a great show!
