No, the music is not hopeless. Apparently this remark was made by someone who does not get why it was chosen. The music is very contemplative and a memory of what had been a beautiful city in German Silesia. After the reformation came to Breslau in the 1520s, Neisse became a Catholic Center for Silesia and was referred to as the Silesian Rome, with its Catholic churches jesuit college and schools. Even up to March 15, 1945 it was what these pictures show. Then the Soviet Army arrived in late March less than 2 months before the end of the war and what they did to the beautiful architecture of this city is a repeat of what they did all over Silesia in those closing weeks. It was terrible, and only a few historic buildings away from the city center remain as they were. I would like to see these few buildings someday, some of which were built when the city was part of Austria. The Red Army raped many nuns at the convent here, each one more than 50 times. There is plenty of eyewitness documentation this actually happened. What I did not know was what another poster stated, that the damaged and destroyed buildings bricks were sent to rebuild Warsaw the same as what happened to damaged and destroyed buildings of Breslau. Nysa is not even remotely what Neisse was before March 1945. Sadly, for the most part, not even close. Before March 1945, Neisse was a unique and special place. Now much of it that post World War 2 Communist Concrete buildings........😢

@@pioslo61 Opolanie to jedno ze Słowiańskich Plemion Śląskich które istniało na kilkaset lat przed narodzeniem się nazwy Górny Śląsk. Ich stolicą było i nadal jest Opole. Więc historycznie patrząc jesteśmy Opolanami, czyli Ślązakami Opolskimi, a nie Górnoślązakami. I tak ja też jestem Opolaninem, Ślązakiem Opolskim, Ślązakiem, Polakiem, Europejczykiem i obywatelem świata. I nikt ani nic tego nie zmieni. Pozdrawiam z Przepięknego Polskiego Śląska Opolskiego :)
