Will this laser model engrave on a huge board (dinning table) or does the mater being engraved need to fit in the frame of this machine?
@the_arcanum3 жыл бұрын
Being an open gantry setting, yes you can move the gantry to engrave wider areas. You'll have to be super carefull aligning the gantry though once it is moved on the next area to engrave. Use tape, mesure distance from edge on every corner and so on... Definitely doable !

I used NEJE air assist , you just have to 3d print out the plastic holder(I don't know why they don't put it in the package), I drilled the laser head a little so that the assistant didn't move and the air went straight to the laser cutting point. I useelectromagnetic air compressor which is suitable for a laser (Hailea ACO-318 at 60 l / min). It is quiet and does not take up much space.

3:15 You need to find your focus point on the lasers using the inclined plate(my focus point is 15.71 mm). Find the thinnest cut. Don't forget to use air assist for cutting.

@@kukomio I see you also paineted both the ceramic tile and thumb tack pins with some paint. What kind of paint is it?
@maxwellconniff11893 жыл бұрын
@@jessicalewisjessielew3399 It is a good question. I am not sure, it could easily be a particular paint made to withstand high heat. The color of the paint, gives us a hint that it is a particular paint for high-heat but could just be a wise choice by the creator. What I mean is, of all colors(shades) black absorbs the most heat, and could absorb too much heat warping the tacks or fracturing the ceramic tile. White is most reflective and runs the risk of reflecting too much energy to other unintended nearby objects damaging them. So this off-gray is a wise choice. It is also matte paint, so reflections are diffuse and spread out dissipating heat in all directions rather than a glossy paint which would reflect the beam unidirectionally, which would be dangerous. The last main important characteristic of achieving a heat safe paint is that it is open-cell or porous. If not on the can, many paints contain this info on the data sheet on the given company's website. You want it open-cell so that any chemical vapors or humidity cant get trapped in the paint when drying. Because if you have a bubble of microscopic water in a dried paint, then that area gets heated by the laser, the water does not have the free space it needs to expand into a vapor causing bad things. TLDR: 1. Get a paint that is approximately the same color as this one, off-gray and matte 2. Make sure it is open-cell or porous paint. 3. Put it out in the sun for a day (or better an oven you don't use for food) so all vapors can evaporate through its open-cell structure. Now if the laser hits it, it wont be noxious

Hello, thank you for the video, could you please help me?, i was wondering if once you calibrate the height of the laser, you never move the height for different materials?, for example plywood 3mm is the same height for plywood 12.5 mm?, thank you very much for your answer and your time, thanks!!

Hi, Nice showcase. I checked that they have already 50W and 80W model (dual diods) have you also considered these options? Do they really have some benefits compare to this 40W version?
@kukomio3 жыл бұрын
Above all, need to look at the optical power, this is important. The optical power of 15w is as far as I know, the highest for a laser diode.
@GuruVlk3 жыл бұрын
@@kukomio i understand it now. One thing I dont understand is the adapter you get with this module. Is it 12V 3A ? = max 36w
@gtsdude10533 жыл бұрын
@@GuruVlk Mine is 12V 4A.
@jacobhn23 жыл бұрын
@@GuruVlk 40w is the laser diode max power it can handle so if your power supply is at 12v 3A = 36w yes a bit low but there are also capacitors that help. the laser module runs at full power also only at 10% power settings but in small chunks (pwm) you are probably better off with 80% power and less speed
@levieux11373 жыл бұрын
they confusingly renamed their modules recently and it seems that what they now call "80W" is this one A40640 (that I'm having as well and which is a dual-diode). They must be facing competition on aliexpress where everyone advertises whatever power, just like with batteries advertising fake capacities. But they were the ones starting to cheat like this by advertising power draw instead of optical power...
@rollandelliott3 жыл бұрын
wow, what is true optical power 15W? I thought it was actually 10w?

Thanks for the video. What SW are you running? I just got a A40640 and connected to Lightburn I'm not able to cut through anything thicker than 6mm wood. That might be due to poor air support but still feels like a long step from 6 to 18. I can't seem to be able to find any recommended settings for the A40640 in Lightburn anywhere. Thanks
@kukomio3 жыл бұрын
I use Lightburn and when cutting the power is at 100%. Firstly, you need to find your focus point ( 3:15 ) on the lasers using the inclined plate (my focus point is 15.71 mm). Find the thinnest cut at different speeds Do not use very hard materials such as birch, beech, oak. Poplar, spruce, pine, balsa are better Don't forget to use air assist for cutting.
