That charcoal yarn is sublime! It's going to look so good with the double knit button band. And happy to see you're giving the FLKH a try ! I'm on my second pair using this right now with a DK. As wordy as the pattern is, it does give a lot of helpful tips and hints, but I am thinking of making a separate little "cheat sheet" without the fluff ! Also on a mission to find the perfect socks. I also miss working on DK woolly projects !

I always love your color choices. The charcoal for your April Cardigan and the serene color of your Cumulus Tee. Chef’s Kiss.

Hi Amy, I really love the shade of wool for the cumulus tee, what an achievement for you to finish the blanket, I am sure that your Grandmother was thrilled to receive it, thank you for a very interesting episode. ☘☘

I always do 56 stitches on 2.25mm, and they fit great!

Hi, Amy! The cardigan you're wearing is adorable - I added it to my favorites on my Ravelry! :) Your cumulus tee is looking great, too! I know handmade by florence did a double knit band on her april cardigan, but I'm not sure if she gives instructions - maybe worth looking into, though! Happy knitting :)

One sock heel I can totally recommend is the strong heel. Super easy to do and the fit is wonderful. I love it

Hi on the cumulus tee the icord also has a decrease every 4th round also and on a smaller needle. It really helps it lay flat I follows the directions for the icord it worked great. The blanket is beautiful!

I am also struggling to get my perfect fit sock and am currently knitting a 56 stitch pattern with a 2.25mm needle and will also do one with a 2.0mm needle to compare. I think I have narrow feet so the 64 stitch on 2.25mm is also a bit loose for me. I just tried the FLK heel and love it but my fave so far is the shadow wrap heel (earthtones girl has the best tutorial, IMO). 🤓

I made the April cardigan with a double knitted band. Kimmie Munkholm has very good tutorials and Handmade by Florence also made a very comprehensive tutorial. I had to frog back a chunk the first time because it was curling too much, so keep an eye on it before you get too far and make sure to pick up every stitch!

The colorway of your sock WIP perfectly matches the pattern theme. I have high insteps so short row heels (afterthought heel, Fish Lips Kiss) don't work for me. I hope it works for you. Mina Phillips does have a basic sock pattern that is cuff down and that has you knit some kind of mini gusset before knitting a short row heel which is supposed to help those w/high insteps; I own the pattern but need to take the time to try it out. I'm currently knitting a mish mash of patterns for my shortie socks with self-striping yarn: Lynne Ashton's Seamless Rounded Toe for a Toe-Up Sock, Brenda's Basic Teo-Up Sock by Brenda Vanlerberghe which has you knit a seamless slip stitch heel that has smooth gussets, & Vanilla Bean Striped Socks by Emily O'Grady.

Awesome progress on your cumulus tee! Do you think that the result is worth the uncomfortable purling with the Pure Silk? Or would you pick a different yarn in retrospect? Also, listening to you talk about all the socks you‘ve been doing is definitely bringing back my sock mojo. :D Have two single socks desperately waiting for a partner and now I might just get back to them.

I think the final result was worth working with the pure silk! It creates such a comfortable fabric so I would give it another try.

Thanks for sharing! I love your Lucca cardigan. That color/fiber looks fantastic! And I love the color of your new April Cardigan. Sounds like you will have a perfectly fitting garment when you are done.

The fish lips kiss heel is my favourite heel type and I‘ve tried *a lot* of them. Still have to adjust socks for my high instep, so I add sts to the back and decrease them after finishing the heel but otherwise, each heel is almost autopilot by now. Which doesn‘t mean that I won‘t do a heel flap once in a while for other people‘s socks. Thanks for sharing all your projects with us. It‘s always inspiring to see what sweaters folx are working on! 💌

Hey Amy! Florence (from Handmade by Florence) has a good doubled knit edge band KZbin video! I don’t think she shows how to do buttonholes, but maybe that’s a good start? Love the colour of your cami no 5!! ❤

I really like a 60 st sock on 2.25mm needles. I find 64 st just a little too big unless there is a lot of cabling. I’d give that a try

I love a good charcoal garment - it is one of the most versatile neutrals as it goes with most colors and also can look dressy or casual depending on what how it’s worn.

I did the kumulus tee and love it. I did long sleeve to the elbow and that was two long so I’ve just pulled out about 3 or 4 inches and that is so much better. Love your blanket

Thank you for sharing your knitting! At the cumulus tee you can make i-cord short rows I did 3 for a V neck right in the middle- sounds a bit weird but works out really nice much love from Germany

Thanks for sharing your knitting journey. I am doing a very easy mock short row heel on the socks I am knitting. My first time straying away from flap and gussett. I found this on KZbin video tutorial from Tonia at Nerdy Knitter. Its the one for socks on short circular needles.

Have you tried doing 60 stitches on 1 1/2 needles? I have small feet and 56 stiches is to small for me and 64 is to big. So I tried 60 stitches and it came out perfect

I did the i cord with decreases at the bottom of my cumulus tee and then couldn't get it on... very annoying to undo lol

A lot of people suggested not doing the decreases at the bottom...my plan is to leave them out!

Omg I so want to make this blanket for my grandma as well but what length cable did you use for your needles? I have no idea where I could even find a 10mm needle with such a long cable!
@neknits Жыл бұрын
I used 10mm interchangeable tips with a 40" cable and it fit nicely on there!

Which cast-on method do you use for your socks? I’ve used several ones including the long tail and the twisted German cast-on but somehow all of them are not stretchy enough for me.
@neknits Жыл бұрын
I use the long tail cast on and it has enough stretch for me. I have heard that some people cast on more stitches for the leg and decrease before the foot to help with that issue, but I haven't tried that yet. Maybe that'll help?
@AnnaKnitsKD Жыл бұрын
Thanks! I’ll try that 😊
@unichan5 Жыл бұрын
You could also cast on over two needles, so the first stitches are really big and the cast-on is loose. Maybe look into any kind of tubular cast-on, which not only looks great but is stretchy as well. If you have problems with the cast-on being too tight, you have to pay attention how much space there is between each individual stitch, because that is how much give there will be. Don’t know if I explained that well or if any of that helped. 👀

Your Nana’s blanket is so pretty . Taking sock projects while traveling is very calming to work on and easy to pack. I’ve knitted socks for many years and recently switched to the shadow wrap heel which fits better for me and enjoyable to knit. Earthtonesgirl has a great tutorial.
