The Fletchers can both be looking at the exact same bank statement & feel 2 different ways. Nell can think ‘I’m below my magic number; we’re broke’ and Chris can think ‘We good; Let’s take a vacation’. Everyone looks at money differently.
@valentino4411
@valentino4411 Ай бұрын
Yeah I agree. Nell likely is looking at the individual withdrawals/transactions that's causing the balance on the account & Chris is probably only looking at the balance with little interest to caring about the details. Nell knows/understands how much of those withdrawals are linked to loans to the kids and truly knows the overall impact it's causing to their overall savings. If you have a partner who only looks at the bottomline and doesn't care as much about the details, that can cause a difference in perspectives too.

Deep down inside, Chris enjoys being the good cop & he subconsciously allows Nell to be the bad cop too often, which adds to her stress. The kids see this dynamic between the two of them & they take advantage of this because they know Chris will often say yes to them even though Nell already told them no. Even adult kids use that tactic which they learned when they were younger. When mom says "no", then dad should align with her at least 90% of the time so she doesnt feel like she's by herself. Most of her stress is coming from feeling like she's alone when it comes to creating fair boundaries for the adult kids.

I believe Nell needs therapy the most because her behavior might be the reason why her kids act the way they act. And I agree with her that those are grown adults, but I can also see that as parents, her and Chris never give them that emotional love that they needed they replace it with monetary love. Nell needs to heal her inner child because her kids are not fully THE issue, they are just a symptom.

lol Chris done told us before he tells them kids NO when they ask for him for money. That’s why he giggled when Nell said she be giving them money. Nell is overly stressed because she allows herself to be over burdened with her kids problems. They can talk to Chris about anything but he seems to have set a firm boundary with money. And two things can be true at the same time! Nell NEEDS therapy to handle her emotions properly AND to have effective relationships with her children. Her children ALSO needs to stop depending on their parents to assist them.

It hurts Nell’s feelings because in telling her kids they need to grow up and stop using her as an atm and handle their own problems and create boundaries their response was to say she needs to go to therapy or counseling or they should all go to family counseling which she and Chris will no doubt be the ones paying for it.

I think that's a little unfair to Nell though. I think we are seeing Nell at her most frustrated point when her anger and impatience has built up over years of taken care of them. Their kids are above 25 years old. One of the things Nell said was that she loans out money constantly but it's not paid back nor do the kids find other ways besides money to reciprocate her kindness. When u loan out money constantly & it never gets paid back, it causes you to build up a wall with anger, especially if the person doesnt find other non-monetary ways to make you feel like youre not doing all of the giving while they take, take, take. The kids high level of neediness is what's causing most of the family issues. She can listen more but I think she cuts them off cause she knows they are going to get the same sob story like a broken record. Even the kids admitted that her boundaries were fair at the therapy session.

Nell is not a safe space for her kids. You can give truth in love and i don’t think she knows how to do that. If you’re already in a jam the last thing anybody wants is to be kicked while they’re down and barked at. What she says may be right but she’s emotionally immature and overreacts and her message gets lost in her terrible delivery.

As I watched the scenes with Nell, I saw myself when my sons were in their teens. I had to really hear them and take a look in the mirror. It was very uncomfortable and it made my heart ache to know I caused the level of pain that I did in them. I apologized and improved myself. Sometimes our kids want us to acknowledge the pain we have caused them. I definitely would go from 0 to 100 for the simplest things. Once I began to unpack I realized it was a learned behavior that needed to stop with me. I hope she really try to change. Now Trish's ex husband is full of crap! How do you leave her and expect her to remain loyal to you. Additionally, how are you mad at Ken for picking up the slack. Obviously you are an absent dad because if you were active sir the teacher would know you. Please Marquez have several seats and sign the divorce papers. Side note, Trish's body is something I dream of but too lazy to live in the gym for...lol

Nell's intervention was so unfair. Why did Nell end up looking like the bad guy. ? All she wants is for her kids to grow the hell up and start being responsible for their own lives. That message did not resonate in that therapy session. It was all about Nell not listening ? Give me a break. I'm sick of grown kids leaning on their parents for everything. The other issue is most business owners do not have a retirement or health insurance. They have to be intentional about those things because as business owners, they are considered independent contractors. With that being said, I understand the stress of seeing lump sums of money going out often with this many children. I agree…Nell is reacting on something deeper too!! At the end of the day, most parents try to support their kids and sometimes to a fault! You don’t help your kids by not holding them responsible and / or accountable. If you come to their rescue every time they encounter a problem, they will never learn the lesson! At this point, I don’t pay legal fees, for drugs and alcohol and what is considered many other regular expenses such as rent, utilities… I’ll get you this…TRY TELLING YOUR “GROWN KID” to sit down to meet with you to go over their pay and bills to see how you can help them to manage their finances better. WATCH THEIR REACTION!! And on that note, allow their reaction to help you with yours!😊 I did not ask my parents for things I wanted for myself for this reason. I did not want my dad asking me any questions about how much money I made, bank accounts…

@valentino4411
@valentino4411 Ай бұрын
@@evrydayppl6296Exactly!! The reason why Nell doesn't listen to the kids & gets frustrated is because she already knows each kid will have the same sob story that they used previously in order to change her mind about loaning money to them but she refuse to bulge so they run to their dad cause they know he's easy on them. It's easy for Chris to listen cause they go to her first with this long story and exhaust her and Chris likely just says yes without requiring them to provide explanations for why they constantly need help. I largely him.

Nell wants to be perceived as a strong black woman. Therapy is considered a weakness in the black community and there is a stigma that something is wrong with you. You’re right Kemper, there is definitely a communication issue between Nell & Chris as a couple. When their adult kids ask for a large sum of money , Nell or Chris shouldn’t give them an immediate response. They should tell them they will discuss it privately and get back to them. They need to be on a United front and even if they agree to disagree it should never be known to anyone. This is how your kids or family will play you! He is always the “good cop” and Nell is always the “bad cop” ! That dynamic needs to change. I also didn’t like how Nell kept saying they were borrowing HER money, she comes off emasculating Chris! Also that convo with her son that it was only the two of them, even though it was just the first two years of his life. How the hell would he remember their their “bond” at two years old?!! 😅 It sounds like she always kept a division between her son and Chris , like an “us against them “ mindset. I’ll bet Chris wasn’t allowed to discipline him, because he was HER child! I can see how Chris’s daughter felt like an outsider around Nell. So many women expects the man to take care of them & their child but they don’t give them the authority, mine and ours mindset. I hope that Nell and her family continues family counseling and individual counseling. Not just for the show.
