Mijas is STUNNING! What do you think of this white village? Is it worth writing onto our list of potential future homes?

Whenever I watch Andalusian videos, i feel a strange calmness settle upon me and i automatically close my eyes and drift off feeling as if I m walking through the picturesque white villages with their bougainvillea covered doors and windows!! I watch myself sipping coffee on a tiny balcony overlooking the charming small houses & antique shops run by old ladies.

I really enjoyed this video as I used to live in Mijas from 1971 to 1977... You showed a shot of my former Boutique... For some years I was the owner of the shop that is now called La Biznaga in your video... I miss Spain very much and all my friends there in Mijas... I hope one day I will be able to visit there again, but... now in March, 2020, the World travel options seem to have evaporated... I am so glad to see that Mijas Pueblo has not changed very much... I live on Vancouver Island now. If I ever get there again I always have a free place to stay with my friend who lives near the little stone Chapel you showed... My friend got married inside there... and I was a bridesmaid...

Is there a way to settle in Mijas for foreign nationals?
@Dakiniwoman8 ай бұрын
@@Zareen991 There are many people from many countries living in Spain. When I was there I applied for a work permit and so I owned business in Mijas. I had a Boutique in the center of the Village. Mijas is a district that encompasses quite a large area, not just the Village. I had to go to Malaga City to get my official papers. They took my fingerprints and made a folder with my photo and finger print for the Work permit. I lived in Spain for nine years, I am Canadian. I loved living in Spain.

That is one picturesque town! I probably could spend a very long time there. I really like seeing some of the more local spots which the average tourist may not know much about. I liked that idea that Greg talked about with trying the same flavor of gelato in each place in Italy a few years ago. You probably could do something similar with a particular food item or with certain kinds of tapas throughout Spain.

How can you walk to the beach? The Spanish built the motorway in front of the sea. There is constant, noisy traffic all along the coast. Do people enjoy crossing the overhead bridges? Not fun for chikdren or relaxation.

Mijas Pueblo is about 8kms from the beach. Its appeal is how beautifully preserved it is. The link with coastal tourism is realistically the amazing sea views!

After all that gelato Greg still had room for tapas....Nellie, as a woman do you feel comfortable walking around on your own in that area of Spain. My wife and I sometimes like to do our own thing..I go for a long mid day run and she explores an area at her own pace...so her being able to go for walks alone is important..we like Cuba for just that reason (had no issues in Lisbon either).
@NellieWinter4 жыл бұрын

@The_Red_Squirrel2 жыл бұрын
Actually, it's the other way around. Cities like Santa Barbara have a strict planning code in the old town that preserves white walls and red terracota roof tiles. Mijas is one of many beautiful pueblo blancos, characterised by small terraced houses built in an organic way with narrow streets, reflecting a more haphazard town planning approach that predated the requirements of accomodating the motor car.

I’ve visited last month and the visit was spoiled with seeing the poor donkeys on short tethers and no water. Also has an active bullring. Really in this day and age? I’m surprised they don’t have bear baiting and cock fighting. Estepona is a far nicer option and has more to offer in our opinion.
