Nelson - the coolest and most picturesque city in BC!
@tonyw9735 жыл бұрын
Nelson is a very pretty place, a historic town with lots of heritage buildings. It can also be confusing to drive in because of the layout of the roads and because it's extremely hilly here. If your mobility is even moderately compromised, this probably isn't the town for you.
@cherobinson63712 жыл бұрын
It’s definitely a better place than Trail to live. Castlegar is great for handicapped cause it’s flat and has good sidewalks etc. Trails so Facists they give Zero F’s about disability

Watched this video as part of my virtual trip across Canada in 2021, through Google Maps Street View and KZbin. When I was very young, our family lived in Winlaw, and a trip to Nelson was considered "going into town". I was too young to remember it, but it's nice to see the town today. Thanks for the video!

I've passed by Winlaw once. The scenery was quite breathtaking. I stayed overnight in New Denver, which is quite close. There's a good Japanese-Canadian Museum in New Denver if you have time to visit. Thanks for watching.

It is sooooo nice to see clear roads without much traffic. The place i stay sometimes takes 30 mins to 1 hour just to drive to reach a place within 10 mins walking distance. Heavy traffic. Yesterday, it took me 1 hour to buy food and return home from a restaurant just about 10 mins walking distance from my house. I am sure you will ask, why i didn't just walk? The whether was too hot.

@@SureFeelsGood I first moved here in 1993 and lived away for 10 years, I've been back for 13 years now. There are fires nearby, but closer to Kaslo and there were some evacuations in the Slocan Valley, but we mostly are just drowning in smoke here. A lot of it is coming up from the States, too. Like any other town we have crime but mostly people know their neighbours, kids walk to school together, etc. Rentals are scarce though, and rents are high, expect an average $800-$1000/mo for a 1 bdrm. If you are in the mind to buy a house here, you can probably expect $400K for a smaller home.

@@clarissathompson I visited Nelson two summers ago and loved it aside from the heat..so I decided to move to Victoria, where I am now. The weather is perfect here for me, but I keep thinking sometimes about nelson's sense of community, and the mountains. And now with Covid closing the homeless shelters, Victoria has been sort of taken over by street addicts..maybe it goes back to normal post covid. I know there is a large homeless population in nelson which suprises me due to how cold your winters are! Is there a big addiction and crime problem there as well? Lastly, do you find yourself having to drive to Trail for medical specialists? thanks

Grew up in this city. It was great! My first thought was that this must be a present day tour with everyone observing the rules of self quarantining in the midst of the Corona 19 virus pandemic. I would prefer you do this again a couple of months into the warmer weather. Then you will see lovely floral gardens and trees brightening the landscape. I still spend approximately 5 months during the summer living on the lake @30 K’s north of Nelson. Brrr. Looks cold to me in this video. A very eclectic city but much loved by its inhabitants and those who visit.

this climate emergency city council we now have think everyone will be riding bicycles and saving the planet. Even an Ebike can't climb these hills unless its illegal, over 500 watts which is the legal limit. But they get huge grant money for "bike?" routes, or maybe redirecting storm water from sanitary sewers, and replacing sidewalks, and repaving and patching.....recently blocked off a street and turned several stop signs(dangerous) so they could get grant money

Not that I'm expecting any kindness from a Kentucky Fried Chicken spy across the street respresenting Michael, with a mother that smells the number googleplex comes to mind, as a greater sample than 2 trillion tons of the mere brown stuff a quadrillion times better than after my parents use the bathroom, as any complexity of hell times hell times hell I've traveled... through, next to a trucker who can behave himself 4 infinites beneath Lucifer as Goliath's complete set of eons. So who knows what life form I'll last on the side of myself personally with God occupying the whole next street as I Am's age, of never having been around allowing what I do need to educate about that level of never being actually kind once, if any 7's care to think what I do. I can and have said it up to a million times: my age has not offered the least I need once; one room somewhere, for it to work or matter. They're that crafty, playing the game of not the least of anything anywhere - a friend who at all gets or sees or supports me, etc., etc., etc., and they're macro scale economic interests, not individual appearances on stage allowing an animal some friendliness.
